How much does the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 10.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,964 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — with a 4.58/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating, you’re looking at a used SUV that clearly resonates with owners even if it isn’t flawless. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners repeatedly praise its comfort, performance, and luxurious features, and they also value the powerful engines and ride quality. The trade-offs are familiar: some shoppers want better gas mileage, and others note seating comfort and build-quality concerns.

That mix fits the Grand Cherokee’s role as a versatile five-passenger midsize SUV that can work as a daily driver, a style-forward family vehicle, or something more adventurous. With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.58/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV with comfort and performance that many drivers feel confident living with over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that it behaves like a traditional SUV, with strong capability and a familiar, proven character.

You should still watch for age-related wear, especially because this model year is deep into its production run and some examples may show the effects of long-term use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the SUV has been used off-road or has higher mileage. Focus on body condition, suspension behavior, tire wear, and signs of uneven repair quality, since those can reveal how the vehicle has been treated.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Grand Cherokee’s styling stays strong across the lineup, but lower trims can feel less premium than the pricier versions, and the more expensive models can bring more hard-plastic disappointment than you might expect.
• Powertrain: The standard 295-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 is paired with an 8-speed automatic, while available V8s add more torque and stronger performance; the Trailhawk setup is the one aimed most clearly at off-road use.
• Safety package: ProTech I is standard and includes a reversing camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. ProTech II adds low-speed forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Advanced ProTech II adds full-speed forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, semi-autonomous parking assist, and rain-sensing wipers.
• Infotainment: Limited X trim includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, SiriusXM satellite radio, and SiriusXM Guardian connected services. A 4G LTE WiFi plan is available, and some versions offer a premium audio upgrade.
• Fuel efficiency: The test SUV returned 21 mpg in combined driving according to the EPA, and the test vehicle achieved 19.4 mpg.

Which 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 12 trim levels: Laredo, Summit, Limited X, SRT, Trackhawk, Trailhawk, and the additional variants mentioned between the bookends.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core styling and capability without paying for the more expensive equipment that pushes the cabin toward luxury territory.
• Limited X: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds the well-rounded infotainment and convenience mix you’re most likely to use every day, including the 8.4-inch touchscreen and smartphone integration.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if off-road use matters most, since it’s the trim most clearly set up for rough terrain with the hardware and traction tools to match.
• SRT: This is the performance-focused choice if you want the Grand Cherokee’s strongest on-road acceleration and a more serious enthusiast character.
• Trackhawk: Pick this only if you want the wildest version and are willing to pay for extreme performance.
• Summit: This is the upscale pick if you want the most premium-feeling Grand Cherokee and are comfortable paying for it.

The safety package is a real consideration here: ProTech I is standard, while the more advanced driver-assistance features require stepping up to higher equipment levels.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage but still need to move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,964 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,303, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $20,303 sits slightly below last year's $22,575.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may temper what a future seller can expect. If you buy well now, you reduce the risk of overpaying before depreciation continues to work against you.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.58/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA, and it earns a Marginal rating for driver protection and a Poor rating for front passenger protection in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep offers ProTech I as standard, with a reversing camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. ProTech II adds low-speed forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Advanced ProTech II adds full-speed forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, semi-autonomous parking assist, and rain-sensing wipers.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, and the IIHS headlight result is Poor unless you upgrade to the better lighting package.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.58/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends strong off-road ability with stylish design and broad everyday versatility.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,132, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $20,303 average.
• It offers rare on-road and off-road versatility with easy daily drivability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,402, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,303 average.
• It brings a redesigned-era feel with more upscale interior materials and better handling.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, availability, and familiar capability, the 2020 is the sensible target. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 can save you money while preserving the core Grand Cherokee formula. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and sharper dynamics, the 2021 is the better step up.
