Is the 2020 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with drivers describing the Cherokee as strong on performance and comfortable on the road. The recurring praise for its smooth handling and well-equipped cabin suggests many owners feel confident living with it over time. For used buyers, that kind of satisfaction can reduce long-term ownership risk, especially if you verify maintenance history and condition carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Cherokee?

At 70.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, since accident history can affect both condition and future resale value. Put inspection priority on body panels, alignment, tires, and any signs of uneven wear or repair work. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because those details matter more when you’re choosing among similarly priced used SUVs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,198 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,232, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $16,232 sits slightly below last year's $17,952.

That price movement suggests the Cherokee has softened enough to help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter a lot, especially because buyers tend to respond well to well-kept examples. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to trade in or list privately.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,364, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $16,232 average.
• It moves to an all-new platform with more technology and usability.

The 2020 is the better value if you want a lower entry price and strong owner satisfaction. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer platform with more tech and usability, the 2021 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2020 remains the smarter starting point.
