Summary
With 186 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,965, 34.9% of 2020 Hyundai Venues for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Hyundai Venue 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2020 Hyundai Venue stands out as an affordable, economical small vehicle that blends hatchback-like practicality with crossover styling. It is classified as a subcompact crossover, but the description also makes clear that, without the roof rails and extra plastic fender cladding, it could just as easily be seen as a hatchback. That positioning gives it a distinctive appeal for buyers who want a commuter-friendly vehicle with a bit more space than a small sedan and an emphasis on economy and efficiency.
Its strongest qualities are value, fuel efficiency, and cabin space. The Venue is described as offering plenty of value and efficiency as a commuter hatchback, and it is also noted for a decent amount of cabin space for a vehicle its size. The latest infotainment and safety technology add to its appeal, making it feel well equipped for everyday use. The tradeoffs are equally clear: it is not very fast or rugged, performance is fairly pedestrian, and cargo space is limited.

This vehicle is the perfect combination of technology and comfort for a small entry level suv crossover. The venue handles very smoothly and the engine has a decent amount of horsepower to get you were ever you may need to go. The venue is a great value for any vehicle in this category. The 2020 venue only lacks in the AWD area but it does have a snow mode that should help some for daily commute.

How much does the 2020 Hyundai Venue cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,985 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,477.43 |
| Year-Round High | $14,805.23 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,788 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.43% |
Prices have softened 5.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 199 listings available, which suggests you have some room to compare prices and condition.
If you find a listing below $13,477.43, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 Hyundai Venue a good car?
Generally — the 2020 Hyundai Venue earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.
The Venue is positioned as an affordable, economical small vehicle with hatchback-like practicality and crossover styling. That makes it a strong fit if you want a commuter-friendly vehicle that emphasizes value, efficiency, and easy day-to-day livability rather than speed or ruggedness.
The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the cabin is described as modern and clean, with good visibility and useful space for a vehicle this size.
33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2020 Hyundai Venue reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Venue is described as efficient, easy to live with, and built around practical everyday use. Its straightforward mechanical setup and commuter-focused character support the idea that it should be manageable for long-term ownership if you keep up with routine care.
The engine is modest, and the vehicle’s lack of power can make it feel strained in some situations, especially when you need quick acceleration. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about whether the car has been maintained well and driven gently.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Hyundai Venue?
At 73.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s equipment and safety systems operate as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SE comes with 15-inch steel wheels, a manually adjustable driver’s seat, one USB port, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and Bluetooth hands-free connectivity. The SEL adds alloy wheels, a center armrest with a storage compartment, and dual USB ports, while the Denim is the most fully equipped version with a contrasting white roof and denim upholstery.
- Powertrain: The Venue uses a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 121 horsepower and 113 pound-feet of torque. A manual transmission is available on the base trim, while the SEL and Denim use Hyundai’s IVT automatic. It is front-wheel drive only.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes a reversing camera, traction control, a tire-pressure monitoring system, a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and a driver-attention warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on the Denim trim and available on the SEL with the Convenience Package.
- Infotainment: All trims come with an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: With the CVT, fuel economy is 30 mpg city, 34 highway, and 32 combined. The manual does worse in city and combined driving, but slightly better on the highway at 35 mpg.
Which 2020 Hyundai Venue trim should I buy?
The 2020 Hyundai Venue is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SEL, and Denim.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Venue’s core value proposition at the lowest price. You get the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a reversing camera, and key driver-assistance features, so it covers the basics well if you want the cheapest path into the model.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds alloy wheels, a center armrest with storage, and dual USB ports, and it can be paired with the Convenience Package for more advanced safety equipment. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, this is the one to target.
- Denim: This is the most upscale version, with the most standard equipment and distinctive styling touches like the contrasting white roof and denim upholstery. It makes sense if you want the most complete Venue without piecing together options.
The SEL with the Convenience Package is the trim to focus on if you want the strongest mix of value and equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Hyundai Venue?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile deals.
- Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 199 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.43% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 73.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,477.43, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Hyundai Venue's resale value?
The current average of $13,985 sits slightly below last year's $14,788.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now. For a future seller, softer pricing today can mean you may need to be more competitive when it’s time to list the vehicle.
Even so, the Venue’s value-focused positioning and practical appeal can help support demand among budget-minded shoppers. If you keep the car in good condition and maintain it well, that should help preserve its appeal later.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Hyundai Venue safe?
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety features include a reversing camera, traction control, a tire-pressure monitoring system, a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, forward-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and a driver-attention warning.
Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on every trim; they come standard on the Denim trim and are available on the SEL with the Convenience Package.
Should I buy a 2020 Hyundai Venue or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 73.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.43% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It offers affordable, economical hatchback-like practicality with the latest infotainment and safety technology.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $14,298, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $13,985 average.
- It adds a more crossover-like shape with a modern, competent runabout feel.
The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced option and are comfortable with the Venue’s modest performance, the 2020 is the better value play. If you’re willing to spend a bit more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative for shoppers who want the same basic formula with a slightly updated presentation.
