Overview
For well over a decade, the Honda Fit has charmed drivers everywhere with its ability to fit a lot of cargo space into a tiny footprint. As the current third-generation model enters its last model year or two, it gets no notable changes for 2020.
The Fit’s sole engine is a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder that makes 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. You get the choice of a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an optional continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Equipped with the latter, the Fit manages 31 mpg city, 36 highway, 33 combined.
LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L trims make up the Fit’s 2020 lineup. The LX comes with plenty of standard equipment: automatic headlights, a liftgate spoiler, automatic headlights, LED taillights and a multi-function center console. All higher trims get a 7-inch infotainment system that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A reversing camera is the only standard safety feature. For almost everything else, Honda asks you to pony up for the Honda Sensing package. It bundles forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and lane-departure warning. Automatic high-beams are a standalone option. When rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Fit achieved excellent crash scores, but missed out on awards due to its less-than-optimal headlights.
The 2020 Honda Fit reaches dealers in December 2019.

This (sadly) will be our last Fit as Honda chose to discontinue marketing them in North America in 2020. Weve owned four. The magic seat is unique amongst sub compacts. It provides the perfect mix of loads of cargo space and great fuel economy. Our dealer said in North America the market is for trucks and power. And they said this model is not profitable for Honda. They still sell in Europe and Japan. We do hope they will bring them back.

So far I have driven the Honda fit for about two weeks and I completely love it. The interior is very great, featuring a touch screen that allows you to access features like your phone’s map app, your phone contact list and your phone’s music apps through apple car play. The dash board includes an analog speedometer, with a cool modern design, an electronic odometer and a tachometer. The car has great very gas milage and just takes about an average of about 17-25 dollars( as of gas prices in 2023) to fill the tank half way ( I always fill my tank every week after driving an average of about 200 miles each week). To save even more money in gas you can enable eco mode on the Honda fit by pressing the green button on bottom left side under the dash board. The car drives very smooth and engine is very quiet. The gear shift is very nice and comes with sport gear. The cargo space in the available at back of the car great and even more space can be produce if you lower the back seats. As you can see the car feature, with a gas mileage almost comparable to a Prius and smooth drive comparable to a Honda accord, I believe the Honda fit is worth the price it is advertised for.

After intensive research and test drives of different vehicles, I am so happy that I purchased the Honda Fit. It is perfect for me! I like its small size, but it is still roomy inside. It is loaded with safety features and the latest technology. Its especially convenient that the back seat flips up (called magic seat) to accommodate stashing tall items if needed. For me, its everything I could want in a car.

I love this car. I thought it was great value. Maybe a Toyota Yaris would compare to it. Maybe a Chevy Spark. It makes me happy to drive this car. It has great side view mirrors. I feel confident that I can see whats around me. Its remarkably roomy inside.

How much does the 2020 Honda Fit cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $18,084 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,576 |
| Year-Round High | $18,256 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,116 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +5.65% |
Prices are up 5.65% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 271 listings available, which gives you a moderate amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2020 Honda Fit a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Honda Fit earns a user rating of 4.6/5, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, impressive cargo space, excellent fuel economy, and value for money, and many also like the clever magic seat. The main tradeoffs owners mention are seat comfort and a backup camera that could be better. With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Honda Fit reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially when it comes to everyday usability and efficiency. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about finding a well-kept example with consistent maintenance and no hidden wear.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda Fit?
At 56.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body panels, alignment, interior wear, and the condition of the backup camera and seats. Because this model is often chosen for practicality, make sure the cargo area, rear-seat mechanisms, and overall condition match the seller’s description.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda Fit?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly when a strong listing appears.
- Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 271 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 5.65% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 56.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,576, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Honda Fit's resale value?
The current average of $18,084 sits slightly above last year's $17,116.
That upward movement suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which can help support resale value if you buy carefully. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the car well, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. Strong demand for practical, efficient hatchbacks can also help keep interest steady.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Honda Fit or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 5.65% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2020 if you want the latest of the nearby years with strong owner satisfaction and a still-active market. If your priority is stretching your budget, a different year may make sense, but you should still compare condition, accident history, and asking price closely before deciding.
