Is the 2020 Genesis G70 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Genesis G70 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its excellent value for money, strong performance, and luxurious interior. They also highlight the acceleration and handling, which support the car’s fun-to-drive character.

The main trade-offs are outdated technology and some practicality limits, including limited backseat leg room and trunk space. For you, that means the G70 makes the most sense if you want a stylish compact luxury sport sedan and can live with a less modern interface.

The market still shows 35.0% good or great deals, which points to some room for value shopping.

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable over time, with praise centered on strong performance, value, and a luxurious cabin that keeps owners happy. The expert review also emphasizes that the G70 feels like a premium, well-oiled machine that will reward its driver for years to come.

The ownership package is helped by included maintenance and a long warranty, which can reduce early-life running costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about whether the car’s age and tech feel still match your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Genesis G70?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, interior condition, and any signs of prior repair. Because this model is often bought for its style and performance, condition matters a lot when you’re comparing similar-priced listings.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Lower trims lose the quilted leather and richer cabin materials found on Prestige and Sport models, while the top Sport trim adds a power closing trunk lid.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder makes 252 hp and 260 lb-ft, while the optional 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 delivers 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: The standard suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping function, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, auto high beams, and a driver attention monitor.
• Infotainment: The system uses an 8-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard.

Which 2020 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Genesis G70 is offered in 4 trim levels: Advanced, Elite, Prestige, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the G70’s core style, performance, and safety without paying for extras.
• Elite: This is the best-value trim if you want a stronger luxury feel, since it adds the 15-speaker Lexicon stereo, parking sensors, heated front seats, and a power steering column.
• Prestige: Choose this if you want more comfort-focused upgrades, including a heated steering wheel and rain-sensing wipers.
• Sport: This is the most performance-oriented choice, with a power closing trunk lid added for 2020 and the most aggressive presentation in the lineup.

The standard safety package is broad across the lineup, so you can shop lower trims without giving up the core driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Genesis G70?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 277 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,630, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $19,630 sits slightly below last year's $22,781.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, since the model has already moved off its earlier price peak.

Strong equipment, a desirable trim, and a clean history should help your car stand out when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2020 G70 is a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), for scoring the best ratings in six crash tests, headlights, and for its standard forward emergency braking.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite is extensive and includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping function, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, auto high beams, and a driver attention monitor. A driver’s knee airbag is also included.

One caveat is that the model has not been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), so you won’t get that additional federal crash-test benchmark.

Should I buy a 2020 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for its stylish design, strong value, and standard safety equipment.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $19,463, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $19,630 average.
• The 2019 is the first ground-up Genesis G70 and feels impressively complete.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,002, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $19,630 average.
• The 2021 adds minor updates and keeps the G70’s style-and-performance appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, style, and performance, the 2020 is the primary pick. If you’re focused on saving a little more, the 2019 is worth a look; if you want the newer model-year alternative, the 2021 is the pricier path.
