What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Genesis G70?

At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings at similar prices. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and signs of prior bodywork or interior wear, since the car’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept. If you want the best ownership experience, make sure the car’s equipment and condition match the trim and price you’re paying.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Lower trims lose the soft leather and quilting found on higher trims, while Prestige and Sport models add quilted Nappa leather and a richer cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder makes 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, while the optional 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 delivers much stronger acceleration and a more engaging sport-sedan feel.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping function, forward emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, auto high beams, and a driver attention monitor.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0T AWD is rated at 20/27/23, and the 2.0T RWD with the automatic gets 22/30/25.

Which 2020 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Genesis G70 is offered in 4 trim levels: Advanced, Elite, Prestige, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core G70 experience with the car’s style, standard tech, and strong safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model.
• Elite: This trim adds the 15-speaker Lexicon stereo, parking sensors, heated front seats, and a power steering column, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• Prestige: This trim adds a heated steering wheel and rain-sensing wipers, and it also brings the richer cabin materials described in the interior coverage.
• Sport: This is the most performance-focused version, with a power closing trunk lid for 2020 and the more aggressive setup described in the test-drive coverage.

Standard safety equipment is especially strong across the lineup, with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping function, forward emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, auto high beams, and a driver attention monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Genesis G70?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you have room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 291 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,068, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $20,269 sits slightly below last year's $22,604.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. A well-kept example with strong equipment and a clean history should hold up better than a rougher one, especially because shoppers still respond to the G70’s style and value story.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2020 G70 is a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it has not been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite is broad and includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping function, forward emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, auto high beams, and a driver attention monitor. A driver’s knee airbag is also included. One caveat is that navigation is optional, and the safety coverage is strongest when you’re looking at a well-equipped example.

Should I buy a 2020 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It pairs standout style with strong value and a top-tier safety result.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $19,592, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $20,269 average.
• It launched the G70 as a strong first effort with fresh engineering and a sporty, upscale mission.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,823, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $20,269 average.
• It adds minor updates and keeps the G70’s style, value, and safety appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, style, and safety, the 2020 is the primary year to target. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2019 is the better value play, while the 2021 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer example.
