How much does the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo cost?

Prices have softened 8.32% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,045 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, solid build, and good fuel mileage, and many also say it is easy to drive, especially in tight city settings. The overview also points to multiple powertrain options, multiple body styles, and a comfortable driving experience, which fits the Transit Cargo’s role as a flexible work van. On the trade-off side, the expert notes call out fairly pedestrian performance and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup.

With 27.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively rather than rushing into the first available van.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to solid build quality and good fuel mileage, while also describing the van as easy to drive and practical for daily use. The expert notes reinforce that it is a manageable, work-ready vehicle with a comfortable cabin and useful modern equipment, which supports the idea that it is built to be counted on over time. Ford also includes vehicle diagnostics and maintenance alerts through FordPass Connect, which can help you stay ahead of upkeep.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright complexity and more about how hard the van was worked and maintained before you buy it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Transit Cargo?

At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, cargo-area wear, and signs of heavy commercial use. Because this model is often configured for specific jobs, condition can vary a lot from one listing to the next, so focus on how the van was used rather than just the odometer reading. If you are comparing multiple vans, pay close attention to equipment differences that affect daily usability and driver comfort.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Transit is offered in cargo, passenger, and crew body styles, and the cargo version can be configured in T-150, T-250, and T-350 trims. Standard equipment is sparse, so base versions may leave you wanting more comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 with 275 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, while the optional 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 makes 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, front-and-rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and a front/rear split-view camera system are optional.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses an AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth, dual USB ports, and a 4.0-inch display. Available SYNC 3 adds an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and over-the-air-style connected functionality through FordPass Connect.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA does not require fuel-economy estimates for the cargo van, but the passenger van with the naturally aspirated V6 is rated at 15 mpg city, 19 highway, 17 combined with rear-wheel drive, and 14 city, 19 highway, 16 combined with all-wheel drive. In testing, the EcoBoost all-wheel-drive van averaged 16.7 miles per gallon.

Which 2020 Ford Transit Cargo trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Transit Cargo is offered in 3 trim levels: T-150, T-250, T-350.

Here's the short version:

• T-150: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Transit’s core utility without paying for extra capability you may not need. It still gives you the van’s flexible layout and work-ready basics, but you should expect a sparse standard feature set.
• T-250: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and should give you a better balance of capability and cost. If you want a Transit Cargo that feels less stripped-down without jumping to the highest-capacity version, this is the trim to focus on.
• T-350: Choose this if your work demands the most capability and you expect to carry heavier loads or want the most robust setup in the lineup. It is the right pick when payload and job-specific utility matter more than keeping purchase price down.

Safety equipment is stronger than the standard feature list suggests, but some advanced driver-assistance items remain optional, so verify the exact equipment on any used listing.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Transit Cargo?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,045 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,516, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo's resale value?

The current average of $22,520 sits slightly below last year's $24,563.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give buyers more leverage today, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. Because this model is a commercial van, resale will depend heavily on condition, configuration, and how hard the vehicle was used. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean histories should hold up better than heavily worked vans with visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Transit Cargo safe?

The 2020 Ford Transit Cargo earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford made a whole host of driver-assistance features standard for 2020, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, front-and-rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, and a front/rear split-view camera system are available, which helps fill in some of the visibility gaps that can come with a windowless cargo van. The overview also notes that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Transit Cargo or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year stands out for its updated powertrain options and newly standard safety tech.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of this van in the nearby-year range, the 2020 is the one to target because it combines updated powertrains, standard driver-assistance tech, and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, you can also compare nearby years, but you should expect to give up some of the 2020’s newer equipment and market appeal.
