2018 Ford Transit Cargo
150 3dr SWB Low Roof Cargo Van with 60/40 Passenger Side Doors
121,318 mi
$17,598
Overview
For 2019, the Ford Transit Cargo gets a few updates. It competes with Ram's ProMaster and the GMC Savana Cargo.
New options for 2019 include D-pillar grab handles for all three roof heights, high-strength laminated side glass for some configurations, and white steel wheels with exposed lug nuts for fleet customers.
Shoppers can choose from two wheelbases, three lengths, and three roof heights. These dimensions will determine the total cargo room, which ranges from 246.7 to 487.2 cubic feet. There are also three engine choices. The 3.7-liter V6 that comes standard produces 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The two optional choices include a 3.5-liter V6 with EcoBoost, making 310 hp and 400 lb-ft, and a 3.2-liter Power Stroke I5 turbo diesel, making 185 hp and 350 lb-ft. All three engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The base 3.7-liter V6 gets 14 mpg city, 18 highway mpg while the 3.5-liter V6 gets 15 mpg city, 19 highway mpg. The diesel engine’s fuel economy hasn't been rated by the EPA.
You also get to choose between four trims: 150, 250, 350, and 350 Heavy Duty. The 150's towing capacity ranges between 4,600 and 7,500 pounds, and the payload ranges from 3,140 to 3,670 pounds. The 250's towing capacity ranges between 4,200 to 7,500 and the payload capacity ranges from 3,130 to 3,950 pounds. The 350's towing capacity ranges from 4.200 to 7,500 pounds and can lug between 3,750 to 4,640 pounds. The 350 HD vans only come with the extended wheelbase.
The interior features standard vinyl seats and vinyl floor coverings, but the doors and dash are loaded with storage areas. Air conditioning, power windows and locks, and remote keyless entry also come standard, as does a 4-speaker AM/FM stereo. Options include a 10-way power driver’s seat, cruise control, Bluetooth, and Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system.
The Transit Cargo also comes standard with halogen headlights and power-adjustable short-arm mirrors. Other available features include extended-length running boards, a programmable battery guard, a trailer-brake controller, and a modem telematics system that allows you to monitor the vehicle’s location, fuel usage, and service needs.
Standard safety features include AdvanceTrac with roll-stability control, side-wind stabilization, and a tire-pressure-monitoring system. The 2019 versions haven't been tested yet, but the 2018 Transit Cargo received a 5-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
If you need a van to conduct business, the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo can help you finish the job.

We were looking for a van to convert to travelling and it was either this or a Ram Promaster. This van rides quieter than a Promaster which would be good on long trips. Being shorter people the mid roof is better for us. The van handles like a car.

How much does the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $19,808 |
| Year-Round Low | $19,506 |
| Year-Round High | $20,542 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $20,541 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −3.57% |
Prices have softened 3.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,087 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers.
Is the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo a good car?
Generally — the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo earns a 4.33/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its spacious interior, power, and reliability, and many also like its fair pricing and American manufacturing. The main tradeoffs mentioned are some fit-and-finish and hardware concerns, including a broken side door latch and limitations in the back door hinges. With 26.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo reliable?
Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and owners describe it as a solid choice that many can count on over time. That said, a used commercial van can carry wear from hard use, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and signs of heavy-duty service.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Transit Cargo?
At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a mechanic who knows commercial vans. Focus on body condition, door operation, and signs of wear from cargo use, since those areas can reveal how the van was treated.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Transit Cargo?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer's market.
- Deal availability: 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,087 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.57% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $19,506, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo's resale value?
The current average of $19,808 sits slightly below last year's $20,541.
That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable entry point, but it also suggests resale values have eased compared with a year ago. If you plan to sell later, condition and documented maintenance will matter more because buyers will compare your van against a fairly active market. Strong pricing discipline now can help you preserve more value when it's time to move on.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Transit Cargo or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.57% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $22,520, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $19,808 average.
- It adds updated powertrains and standard safety tech.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because pricing has softened and deal availability is decent. If you can stretch your budget and want a newer setup with more modern equipment, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
