2020 Ford Transit Cargo
250 Low Roof RWD
104,234 mi
$21,898
Overview
For 2019, the Ford Transit Cargo gets a few updates. It competes with Ram's ProMaster and the GMC Savana Cargo.
New options for 2019 include D-pillar grab handles for all three roof heights, high-strength laminated side glass for some configurations, and white steel wheels with exposed lug nuts for fleet customers.
Shoppers can choose from two wheelbases, three lengths, and three roof heights. These dimensions will determine the total cargo room, which ranges from 246.7 to 487.2 cubic feet. There are also three engine choices. The 3.7-liter V6 that comes standard produces 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The two optional choices include a 3.5-liter V6 with EcoBoost, making 310 hp and 400 lb-ft, and a 3.2-liter Power Stroke I5 turbo diesel, making 185 hp and 350 lb-ft. All three engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The base 3.7-liter V6 gets 14 mpg city, 18 highway mpg while the 3.5-liter V6 gets 15 mpg city, 19 highway mpg. The diesel engine’s fuel economy hasn't been rated by the EPA.
You also get to choose between four trims: 150, 250, 350, and 350 Heavy Duty. The 150's towing capacity ranges between 4,600 and 7,500 pounds, and the payload ranges from 3,140 to 3,670 pounds. The 250's towing capacity ranges between 4,200 to 7,500 and the payload capacity ranges from 3,130 to 3,950 pounds. The 350's towing capacity ranges from 4.200 to 7,500 pounds and can lug between 3,750 to 4,640 pounds. The 350 HD vans only come with the extended wheelbase.
The interior features standard vinyl seats and vinyl floor coverings, but the doors and dash are loaded with storage areas. Air conditioning, power windows and locks, and remote keyless entry also come standard, as does a 4-speaker AM/FM stereo. Options include a 10-way power driver’s seat, cruise control, Bluetooth, and Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system.
The Transit Cargo also comes standard with halogen headlights and power-adjustable short-arm mirrors. Other available features include extended-length running boards, a programmable battery guard, a trailer-brake controller, and a modem telematics system that allows you to monitor the vehicle’s location, fuel usage, and service needs.
Standard safety features include AdvanceTrac with roll-stability control, side-wind stabilization, and a tire-pressure-monitoring system. The 2019 versions haven't been tested yet, but the 2018 Transit Cargo received a 5-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
If you need a van to conduct business, the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo can help you finish the job.

We were looking for a van to convert to travelling and it was either this or a Ram Promaster. This van rides quieter than a Promaster which would be good on long trips. Being shorter people the mid roof is better for us. The van handles like a car.

How much does the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $19,529 |
| Year-Round Low | $19,505 |
| Year-Round High | $20,539 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $20,540 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.92% |
Prices have softened 4.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,054 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo a good car?
Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise the spacious interior, power, and reliability, and many describe it as a solid choice compared with competitors. Fair pricing and American manufacturing also come up as positives. With 27.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.
Is the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo reliable?
Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights reliability alongside practical strengths like power and a spacious cabin. That said, some owners mention issues such as a broken side door latch and limitations in the back door hinges, so condition matters.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is buying a van with unresolved wear-related problems that can become costly over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Transit Cargo?
At 65.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on doors, latches, hinges, and other high-use cargo-area components, since those are the kinds of issues owners have flagged. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, especially if the van has high mileage.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Transit Cargo?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,054 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.92% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $19,505, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Transit Cargo's resale value?
The current average of $19,529 sits slightly below last year's $20,540.
That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more efficiently now but may also limit near-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. If you keep the van in strong condition and maintain it well, you can help protect its value. Demand should remain steadier for examples that present cleanly and show consistent upkeep.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Transit Cargo or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 27.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.92% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $22,484, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $19,529 average.
- It adds updated powertrain options and standard safety tech.
The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and a broad set of listings, the 2019 is the better value-focused choice. If you can spend more and want the newer-year upgrades, the 2020 is the stronger pick. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2019 remains the smarter starting point.
