CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 2,532 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,159.00, 30.5% of 2020 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford Edge 4.63 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
78.5% of 2020 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford Edge is a midsize two-row SUV that stands out less for flash than for being a straightforward, well-equipped choice. Its design is showing signs of age, and the styling is uninspired, but it makes up for that with plenty of standard tech and safety features. It also offers easy-to-use technology, which helps give it broader appeal for shoppers who want something familiar and simple to live with.
What makes the 2020 Ford Edge distinctive is that it stays relevant through equipment rather than drama. Ford keeps it fitted with the latest infotainment and safety technology, and the lineup includes a performance variant called the Edge ST. That gives it an extra layer of interest in a segment where many rivals are more conventional. At the same time, the Edge is getting long in the tooth and its base engine is underwhelming, so it is best suited to buyers who value comfort, space, and useful features over standout driving excitement or bold design.

I was impressed with the features of the Ford Edge SE (i.e. backup camera, lane assist, multiple airbags, roominess, etc.) I was also impressed with the comfort of the seats and the comfort of the ride on rougher paved roads. Compared to my 2019 Ford Escape Titanium, I have only found two negatives: 1. Remote start is not on the keyfob but only available through the phone app 2. Manual liftgate instead of the power liftgate

This car has all the bells and whistles. Lane assist, auto headlights and whipers, wireless charging pad, number pad entry so you can leave your car running but locked, hands free lift gate sun and moon roof. The list goes on.

It is the best vehicle in its class for the money. I would compare this to an Audi SQ5, Mercedes AMG GL class, Mazda CX-5, Chevrolet Blazer, Genesis GV70 and many others.

See more price trendsHow much does the 2020 Ford Edge cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,159 |

| Year-Round High | $18,941.48 |

Prices have softened 9.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,520 listings available, which suggests solid inventory availability.
If you find a listing below $16,731.34, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Ford Edge earns a 4.63/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the comfort, spaciousness, and modern features. They also highlight the solid build quality and roomy cabin, which makes it appealing if you want something that works well for families and taller drivers.
The main trade-offs are its uninspired styling and underwhelming base engine. In practical terms, that means you should value the Edge most if you care more about everyday usability, tech, and comfort than standout design or sporty character.
The Edge’s roomy two-row layout and family-friendly feature set make it a strong fit if you want a versatile midsize SUV rather than a flashy one. Good and great deals account for 30.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.63/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels reliable, comfortable, and solidly built, with many drivers describing it as a model they can count on over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Edge is a versatile, well-equipped SUV with a refined ride and strong everyday usability.
Ford also includes a broad standard safety and tech package, which can help reduce ownership friction if you want a well-equipped used SUV. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may show the technical issues owners mention, so condition and service history matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the transmission, electronics, and how the cabin tech behaves in daily use. Pay close attention to whether the vehicle’s condition matches the seller’s description, especially if you’re shopping a higher-mileage example.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE comes standard with a 10-way power driver’s seat, satellite radio, a WiFi hotspot, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, dual-zone climate control, and Ford Co-Pilot360. The SEL adds LED fog lights, heated side mirrors, 18-inch aluminum wheels, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a six-way power front passenger seat, a nine-speaker premium audio system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Titanium adds 19-inch wheels, genuine leather upholstery, a 10-way power front passenger seat, driver’s seat memory, a wall-style power outlet, remote start, wireless charging, and a B&O 12-speaker sound system. The ST adds a more powerful engine, standard AWD, and sportier styling.
- Powertrain: The standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, with front-wheel drive or available AWD through an eight-speed automatic. It delivers solid low-end acceleration, though it can feel less eager at higher speeds. The ST uses a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, standard AWD, and stronger performance.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. SEL buyers can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go traffic capability and active lane centering.
- Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch SYNC 3 touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Navigation is optional on the SEL and ST and standard on the Titanium. The system also supports Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, and two smart-charging USB ports. OTA capability is not mentioned.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive 2.0-liter four-cylinder returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, 24 combined. With AWD, it returns 21 mpg city, 28 highway, 23 combined. The ST returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, 21 combined.
Which 2020 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The SE gives you the essentials, but it lacks the upgraded comfort and convenience features found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The SEL is the best value because it adds heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, upgraded audio, and the option for Co-Pilot360 Assist+.
- Premium/top trim: The Titanium is the most polished choice, with leather upholstery, memory seating, wireless charging, and the premium B&O audio system.
- Off-road trim: The ST is the performance-focused choice, not the best fit if you want the most relaxed daily-driver setup.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard on every trim, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on the SEL.

If you find a listing below $16,731.34, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $17,159 sits slightly below last year's $18,939.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should be easier to move than rougher ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.63/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford Edge safe?
The 2020 Ford Edge received a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard on every trim and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. If you move up to the SEL, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and active lane centering.
The main caveat is that IIHS headlight performance varies by trim level, with ratings that can range from average to poor. That makes trim choice worth considering if nighttime driving matters to you.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.40% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.63/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines standard Co-Pilot360 safety tech with a roomy cabin and available ST performance.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $15,606, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $17,159 average.
- It offers a spacious cabin and strong performance.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $19,737, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,159 average.
- It adds a larger touchscreen and wireless smartphone integration.
The bottom line: the 2020 is the best all-around pick if you want a balanced mix of price, safety, and equipment. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2019 is the value play; if you want newer tech and can spend more, the 2021 is worth a look.
