I purchased the 3.0 liter diesel for the torque and fuel economy. Neither one disappoints. The $50k purchase price was steep but was the best value when compared with equally trimmed competitors. I love this truck!

Test drove a 2020 Chevy Silverado LT 1500 4x4 3 liter diesel crew cab, standard (6.5 ft.) box. The major options were the 3 liter diesel rated at 26 mpg combined, Z71, All-Star Package (heated seats, power rear window and other USEFUL - not bling items), Leather, spray-in bedliner. The truck handed well, responsive throttle, road smooth without excessive road noise. I prefer no center console (this didnt have one). Rated payload of ~1700 lbs. Negatives: For asking price $47K, no bed camera, no safety package - BLIS, etc, no step bars (the Ford F150 302A package always includes them), no fog lights. It had a tow package but not the Max Tow package which includes beefier spring rate. No NAV. I also have seen no Chevy/GM 1500s with the large 38 gallon fuel tank option offered by Ford F150. Given the current 60 cents per gallon more for diesel than gas, If you cost out 100,000 miles at the Chevy diesel combined 26 MPG vs. 18 MPG combined for the Ford F150 3.5 twin turbo, over 100,000 miles the diesel saves $1625. But you can get the Ford XLT trim without leather but with NAV, step bars, 38 gal fuel tank, fog lights, BLIS for between $38-$40K. Theres the facts at 5/10/2020 from Western Washington - make your choice!
