How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 9.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,070 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 4.58/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the smooth ride, attractive design, and good gas mileage, while also calling out the value for money and comfortable interior. For you, that makes the Malibu a sensible pick if you want a roomy midsize sedan with a comfortable cabin and straightforward everyday usability. With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.58/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with comments that reinforce its strong value and comfortable daily use. That said, you should still think about long-term ownership risk the same way you would with any used sedan: verify maintenance history and make sure the specific car you choose has been cared for consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 57.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you get too far into negotiations. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, since a clean-looking listing can still hide past damage or deferred maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,070 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,482, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $13,483 sits slightly below last year's $14,837.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you keep the car in good condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned to limit losses when it comes time to sell. The current market also shows enough demand to support resale, especially for well-kept examples with strong history records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.58/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.58/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Malibu is the better choice if you want a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan and can find a clean example with a solid history report. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2020 stands out as a balanced option when you want a modern-feeling cabin, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that still offers some deal potential.
