How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 9.11% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,046 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — 4.6/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. Drivers consistently praise the smooth ride, attractive design, and good gas mileage, and many also point to the value for money and comfortable interior. That lines up well with the Malibu’s role as a roomy, value-oriented midsize sedan with a practical, easy-to-live-with cabin. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the Malibu’s comfort and everyday livability over the long haul. That kind of satisfaction usually matters most when you want a used sedan you can count on for routine commuting and family duty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the ownership experience and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean history and consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 57.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was minor or more serious. Put inspection priority on body panels, paint match, tire wear, and signs of uneven repairs, since those can reveal how well a car was restored. You should also focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because a clean, well-kept Malibu is the safer buy than one that simply looks good in photos.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,046 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,293, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $13,293 sits slightly below last year's $14,625.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has already moved into a more buyer-friendly part of its depreciation curve, which can help you if you buy at the right price. If you plan to resell later, the key is to avoid overpaying now, because a lower entry price gives you more room to absorb future depreciation. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a value-focused midsize sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a lower used price than many rivals. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby model years to see whether a slightly older Malibu offers similar appeal for less money, but the 2020 is a sensible primary target when condition and history check out.
