Used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale nearRochester, NY

How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 8.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,360 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.2/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners commonly praise its comfort, fuel economy, and value for money, and they also point to good features for the price. The practical, easy-to-live-with nature of the Equinox comes through clearly in its everyday usefulness, and the model’s straightforward setup fits shoppers who want a sensible compact crossover rather than something sporty.

The trade-offs are just as clear: some owners mention a lack of standard features on lower trims, and both the expert review and owner feedback note modest power and a cheap-feeling interior in places. That makes it a better fit if you value utility, comfort, and convenience over driving excitement.

The model’s practical mission is aimed at buyers who want more foul-weather capability, more cargo space, and a higher driving position than a midsize sedan can provide. With 32.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with comfort, value, and fuel economy showing up as recurring positives. The expert review also describes it as a straightforward daily driver that covers the basics well, which supports the case for long-term usability.

Chevrolet also includes a free first maintenance visit, which is a small but helpful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure a prior owner didn’t skip maintenance or overlook wear items, especially on higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings with similar prices. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim you expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: L, LS, LT, and Premier trims are all part of the lineup, and the lower trims are the ones most likely to leave you wanting more standard equipment. The Premier adds a more upscale look with roof rails, extra chrome detailing, and a more premium cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: The standard 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, while the available 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder delivers 252 hp and 260 lb-ft and is the better choice if you want stronger acceleration or the maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, a safe following distance monitor, and automatic high-beam headlights. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, and other upgrades depend on trim level.
• Infotainment: Systems use 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreens and include Bluetooth for two devices, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and Chevrolet Connected Access. Higher trims add a high-definition display, cloud connectivity, improved voice recognition, HD Radio, satellite radio, navigation, and a Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-liter engine is rated at 28 mpg in combined driving with AWD in the expert review, while the 2.0-liter turbo is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2020 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LS, LT, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it’s the trim most likely to feel stripped down if you want more than the basics.
• LS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the Equinox affordable while still delivering the core usefulness, easy-to-use tech, and everyday comfort the model is known for.
• LT: This is the trim to consider if you want a better mix of equipment and flexibility, and it’s also the one that can get the Midnight Edition appearance package.
• Premier: This is the most upscale choice, with the strongest visual presence, the available 2.0-liter turbo engine, and the most premium-feeling cabin presentation.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every trim, so you don’t have to move up the ladder to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,360 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,084, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $15,084 sits slightly below last year's $16,444.

That softer pricing suggests the Equinox has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices keep easing. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value later. Trim, mileage, and accident history will matter a lot when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2020 Equinox is a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS and earns five-star ratings in each NHTSA evaluation, plus a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on every trim and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, a safe following distance monitor, and automatic high-beam headlights. A reversing camera, rear-seat reminder, and Teen Driver technology are also standard.

Some helpful safety upgrades depend on trim level, including adaptive cruise control, lane change warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. High-definition reversing and surround-view cameras are also available.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for standard advanced safety features and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,672, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $15,084 average.
• It adds HD rear-view and surround-view cameras, plus an updated infotainment system.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of safety tech, usability, and current-market availability. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2019 is worth a look because it undercuts the 2020 on price while still bringing useful updates.
