Used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale nearMount Pleasant, MI

How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 7.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,610 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.2/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners commonly praise its comfort, fuel economy, and value for money, and they also point to its good features for the price. The overview frames it as a practical compact crossover for buyers who want more cargo space, a higher driving position, and easier everyday driving rather than excitement. The main trade-offs are its pedestrian performance and some lower-trim feature gaps, along with a cheap-feeling interior in places.

Good and great deals account for 28.8% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary also points to dependable day-to-day ownership traits, with praise for comfort, fuel economy, and value that usually matter in long-term use. The expert driving notes reinforce that it is a straightforward, easy-to-live-with crossover rather than a complicated one, which can help reduce ownership headaches.

Chevrolet also includes a free first maintenance visit, which is a small but useful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about finding a well-kept example that has not been neglected or poorly equipped from the start.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a close inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because lower trims can feel sparse, it also makes sense to confirm the equipment list carefully so you know exactly what you are getting. If possible, focus on condition first and trim second, since the best value comes from a clean, well-maintained example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Equinox comes in L, LS, LT, and Premier trims. Lower trims are the ones most likely to leave you wanting more standard equipment, while Premier adds a more upscale look with features such as a power panoramic sunroof, roof rails, extra chrome detailing, and 19-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: The standard 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque and works with front- or all-wheel drive through a 6-speed automatic. A 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder is available for stronger acceleration and a 3,500-pound towing capacity, paired with a 9-speed automatic and front- or all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, a safe following distance monitor, and automatic high-beam headlights. A reversing camera, rear-seat reminder, and Teen Driver are also standard, while adaptive cruise control, lane change warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, and a Safety Alert Seat are available depending on trim.
• Infotainment: Systems use 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreens and include Bluetooth for two devices, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and Chevrolet Connected Access. Higher trims add a high-definition display, cloud connectivity, improved voice recognition, HD Radio, satellite radio, navigation, and a Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-liter engine is rated at 28 mpg in combined driving, while the 2.0-liter turbo is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving. The 1.5-liter AWD rental example averaged 24.3 mpg, and the 2.0-liter test vehicle averaged 22.1 mpg.

Which 2020 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LS, LT, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest entry point, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest-cost way into the Equinox and are comfortable with a basic feature set.
• LS: This is the trim that makes the most sense for many shoppers because it keeps the Equinox affordable while still giving you the core practicality and easy-to-use tech the model does well.
• LT: This is the best-value trim if you want a better balance of equipment and price, and it is also the trim that can get the Midnight Edition appearance package.
• Premier: This is the right pick if you want the most upscale version, with the strongest visual presence and the most available comfort and tech features.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, but some driver-assistance upgrades still depend on trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,610 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,218, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $15,218 sits slightly below last year's $16,517.

That softer pricing suggests the Equinox has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase a clean example with good equipment and solid maintenance history, you may have a better chance of holding value than someone who overpays today. The market still appears active enough that well-priced listings should continue to attract attention.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox is a Top Safety Pick from IIHS and earns five-star ratings in each NHTSA evaluation, plus a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, a safe following distance monitor, and automatic high-beam headlights. A reversing camera, rear-seat reminder, and Teen Driver are also standard, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic warning, lane change warning, adaptive cruise control, and a Safety Alert Seat are available depending on trim.

One thing to watch is that some helpful driver-assistance features are not as broadly available as they should be, so you should confirm the exact safety equipment on any used listing.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for standard advanced safety features and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,782, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $15,218 average.
• It adds clearer visibility with HD rear-view and surround-view cameras.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of safety, tech, and current-market availability. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 can make sense, especially if you value its camera upgrades and can find a clean example at a lower price.
