How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices have softened 4.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,043 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of cars to compare.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.0/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the thrilling performance, strong handling, and powerful engine. They also like the fun driving experience and the car’s engaging character.

The trade-offs are the cramped rear seating and the absence of certain safety features. That fits the Camaro’s role as a driver-focused two-door sports coupe rather than a practical all-rounder.

With its budget-friendly positioning and sleeper LT1 setup, it makes the most sense if you want Camaro performance without paying SS money. The market also shows 31.5% good or great deals, so there are still attractive listings to find.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car people feel good about living with over time, especially because the driving experience is so rewarding. The expert assessment also emphasizes the Camaro’s dynamic goodness and the way its platform underpins the car’s performance character.

The ownership picture is helped by the LT1’s lower entry price, but you should still expect a sports-car ownership experience with some compromises in everyday usability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because the Camaro’s safety equipment is limited, it’s smart to focus on the condition and operation of the standard camera and stability systems as well.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT1 looks like a basic Camaro LT, but it carries Camaro SS go-fast hardware underneath its clean exterior. It also lacks the more advanced safety equipment you’ll find on some other versions, so base-trim simplicity comes with real feature gaps.
• Powertrain: The LT1 uses a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 hp and 455 pound-feet of torque, paired with a limited-slip rear differential, 4-piston Brembo front brakes, and a performance-tuned suspension. It’s the setup to want if you care most about straight-line speed and back-road pace.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes stability control, a reversing camera, and Teen Driver. Available safety-related features include OnStar connected services with automatic collision notification and SOS emergency calling, but blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and forward-collision warning are not standard.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, OnStar connected services, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and a 6-speaker Bose sound system. An 8-inch display, additional speakers, connected navigation, and remote engine start with the automatic transmission are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 returns 16 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined. In testing, it averaged 18.6 mpg in city and suburban driving and 20 mpg overall.

Which 2020 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2020 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 6 trim levels: LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, SS.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the simplest entry point, and it’s the one to choose only if you want the lowest-cost Camaro experience and can live without the richer equipment and stronger powertrains found higher up.
• 1LT: This is the first trim that opens the door to more Camaro flexibility, including access to a V6 engine upgrade and more optional equipment. It’s the better starting point if you want some room to tailor the car.
• 2LT: This trim builds on the 1LT formula with more equipment and remains part of the range that can be configured for coupe or convertible use. It suits buyers who want a more complete daily-driver setup.
• 3LT: This is the most feature-rich of the non-V8 trims and is the one to consider if you want the broader equipment list without jumping to the performance-focused LT1 or SS.
• LT1: This is the best-value trim for enthusiasts. It gives you the sleeper look, the 455-hp V8, Brembo brakes, and performance hardware at a lower price than the SS, making it the sweet spot for buyers who want maximum muscle for the money.
• SS: Choose this if you want the more overt performance identity and the extra hardware that comes with it, including the features the LT1 does not get.

No matter which trim you choose, the Camaro’s safety equipment remains limited compared with many modern rivals.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Camaro?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,043 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,743, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $26,109 sits slightly below last year's $27,199.

That softer pricing suggests the Camaro has become a bit easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can help you as a shopper today. For a future seller, it means the market is not currently rewarding this model with rising values.

Even so, the Camaro’s strong enthusiast appeal should help support demand for clean, well-kept examples. If you buy smart and keep mileage and condition in check, you should have a better shot at holding value than you would with a less desirable sports coupe.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro coupe gets an overall five-star rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection for both driver and passenger. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it top marks in frontal- and side-impact testing, though roof crush strength is rated Acceptable rather than Good.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety setup is basic: stability control, a reversing camera, and Teen Driver. Available features include OnStar connected services with automatic collision notification and SOS emergency calling, plus rear camera mirror, rear parking sensors, and forward-collision warning on some versions.

The bigger caveat is that no Camaro is available with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, or high-beam headlights. That makes the Camaro less reassuring than many newer cars if safety tech is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The LT1 brings sleeper styling with SS-grade V8 hardware at a lower price than the SS.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $34,042, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,109 average.
• It continues the Camaro formula with only modest updates.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price and performance, the 2020 is the smarter buy because the LT1 delivers serious V8 muscle without the SS price tag. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer example, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative, but the 2020 gives you the stronger value story.
