Is the 2020 Audi Q7 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Audi Q7 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious features, smooth and quiet ride, comfort, and driveability, and many also like how it handles in snowy conditions. The Q7’s refreshed styling, interior, powertrain, and technology help it feel polished and competitive in the high-end three-row class.

The main trade-offs are its cramped third row and limited cargo space, and some owners feel it is overpriced. For you, that means the Q7 makes the most sense if you value refinement, technology, and driving enjoyment more than maximum room.

With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Audi Q7 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with repeated praise for the Q7’s comfort and confidence in everyday use. The expert evaluation also describes the SUV as well-rounded and enjoyable to drive, with the 48-volt mild-hybrid system operating transparently and helping reduce engine load to maximize mileage.

Audi’s maintenance perk language is not included in the source material here, but the overall ownership picture still leans positive for buyers who want a premium SUV they can count on. For used shoppers, the bigger long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about higher ownership costs if you buy a poorly maintained example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Audi Q7?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not guarantee perfect condition or clean maintenance records. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the electronics, suspension, and any signs of heavy wear, especially if the vehicle has been optioned heavily or used as a family hauler. Pay close attention to cabin condition and storage wear, since the Q7’s practicality trade-offs are part of the ownership story.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Q7 is available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels. The higher trims add more equipment, and the Prestige test vehicle included features such as a head-up display, adaptive air suspension, and upgraded lighting, while the source also notes that some advanced driver-assistance upgrades require the Executive Package with Premium Plus or the Prestige trim.
• Powertrain: The 2020 Q7 55 TFSI uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive. The 48-volt mild-hybrid system helps conserve fuel, and the SUV is described as responsive, quick, and capable of towing up to 7,700 pounds.
• Safety package: Audi equips the Q7 with numerous advanced driver-assistance systems, including Emergency Assist, Turn Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Assist with adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assistance, and lane-centering assistance. Some of these upgrades are tied to the Executive Package with Premium Plus trim or the Prestige trim.
• Infotainment: The Q7 uses a dual-screen MMI Touch Response setup with a 10.1-inch upper screen and an 8.6-inch lower screen. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, natural voice recognition, handwriting recognition, navigation with Google Earth imagery, Audi Connect services, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the Q7 should get 18 mpg combined, and the test vehicle averaged 21 mpg on a road trip and 18.1 mpg on a local fuel-economy loop.

Which 2020 Audi Q7 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Audi Q7 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Q7 experience with standard Quattro all-wheel drive, leather upholstery, and a third-row seat. If you want the Q7’s luxury feel without chasing every extra feature, this is the trim to start with.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to more advanced driver-assistance upgrades through the Executive Package. If you want a stronger mix of equipment and value, this is the one to focus on.
• Prestige: This is the most fully equipped version and the one used in the expert test drive. It adds features such as adaptive air suspension, a head-up display, and more upscale presentation, so it suits you best if you want the most polished Q7 experience.

For safety-focused shoppers, note that the advanced ADAS upgrades are tied to the Executive Package with Premium Plus trim or the Prestige trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Audi Q7?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,060 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,603, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Audi Q7's resale value?

The current average of $23,603 sits slightly below last year's $27,206.

That price drop suggests the Q7 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For you, that means the biggest resale advantage comes from choosing a clean, well-kept example rather than stretching for a higher-priced listing with more wear.

Because the market has softened, a future seller may need to be more competitive on price to stand out. Still, the Q7’s premium positioning and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Audi Q7 safe?

The 2020 Audi Q7 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS, though its headlights are rated poor.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The source also notes that some of these upgrades are reserved for the Executive Package with Premium Plus trim or the Prestige trim.

The main safety caveat is the poor IIHS headlight result, which prevents the SUV from earning an even cleaner safety result. Even so, the overall safety package remains strong if you prioritize active safety tech and collision protection.

Should I buy a 2020 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 update brings refreshed styling, interior, powertrain, and technology, while keeping the Q7 competitive against key rivals.

The bottom line: If you want the most updated version of this generation, the 2020 Q7 is the right path because it combines the refreshed design and tech with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used-car price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
