How much does the 2020 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,026 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Acura MDX earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, safety features, comfort, and strong power delivery. The overview also frames it as a well-rounded premium family SUV with broad everyday usefulness, which fits the feedback from shoppers who want comfort and convenience more than standout flash.

The main trade-offs are uninspired styling and outdated technology. That means you may like it most if you want a practical three-row luxury crossover rather than the newest-feeling cabin or the most exciting design.

With 38.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the MDX’s reliability, comfort, and family-friendly usefulness. The expert review also describes it as a proven model with a loyal repeat audience, which reinforces the sense that it’s a vehicle people tend to count on over time.

The cost-effectiveness notes also show that Acura packages the MDX with a lot of equipment, which can help you feel better about long-term value if you choose the right trim. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that higher-mileage examples may reflect the usual wear that comes with a three-row luxury SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura MDX?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on bodywork, electronics, and safety systems. Because this model is often bought as a family hauler, pay close attention to cabin condition, seat wear, and how well the technology and driver-assistance features still function.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX is nicely equipped, but it lacks the extra tech features that define the higher packages. The Technology Package adds navigation, parking sensors, remote start, and upgraded audio, while the Advance Package adds a surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, and additional comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. There is also a Sport Hybrid with a 3.0-liter V6 and three electric motors making 321 hp and 289 lb-ft, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard AcuraWatch includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is added with the Technology Package, and Head-Up Warning comes with the Advance Package.
• Infotainment: The base setup includes an 8.0-inch upper screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, text and email capability, five USB ports, SiriusXM, and an eight-speaker audio system. The Technology Package adds a 9.0-inch screen and upgraded audio, while the Advance Package uses a 16.2-inch ultra-wide screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model is rated at 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined. SH-AWD returns 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is rated at 26 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura MDX is offered in 3 trim levels: MDX, Technology Package, Advance Package.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the best fit if you want the lowest entry price and still want a well-equipped luxury SUV with standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, AcuraWatch, and a strong V6. It makes the most sense if you care more about value and core family usefulness than premium extras.
• Technology Package: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds navigation, parking sensors, remote start, upgraded audio, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Advance Package: Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including the surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, and Head-Up Warning. It’s the right pick if you plan to keep the SUV for family duty and want the most upscale experience.

The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,026 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,945, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $23,960 sits slightly below last year's $26,319.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the chance of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The MDX’s broad appeal and family-friendly reputation should still help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX safe?

The 2020 Acura MDX earns a Good rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard AcuraWatch includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning.

One caveat is that IIHS rates the headlights as acceptable rather than top-tier, so you may want to pay attention to lighting performance if you drive often at night.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for standard advanced safety features and a spacious cabin.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $21,265, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $23,960 average.
• It offers a proven, long-running, well-rounded three-row luxury crossover with a familiar character.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2020 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you the MDX’s core strengths.
