How much does the 2020 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.77% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

With 1,031 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Acura MDX earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, safety features, and comfort, and many also like the power it delivers for family use. The overall package is especially appealing if you want a premium three-row SUV that feels practical and well-rounded rather than flashy.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling is described as uninspired, and the technology can feel outdated for the price. That makes it a stronger fit if you value everyday usefulness, cabin space, and a familiar luxury experience over the newest cabin tech.

The market also looks reasonably shopper-friendly, with 35.8% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on the MDX’s spaciousness, safety, and comfort over time. The expert review also emphasizes that the MDX has built a loyal repeat audience and has a long-running reputation for being a familiar, proven choice.

On the ownership side, the MDX’s well-rounded mechanical setup and strong everyday usability suggest it should be easy to live with, especially if you keep up with routine maintenance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about a single glaring flaw and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura MDX?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any evidence that safety systems or cameras were repaired after a collision.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX is nicely equipped, but it lacks the special tech extras that define the higher packages. The Technology Package adds features like navigation, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring, while the Advance Package adds a surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, and Head-Up Warning.
• Powertrain: You get a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, or the MDX Sport Hybrid with a 3.0-liter V6 and three electric motors making 321 hp and 289 lb-ft. The gasoline model is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the hybrid uses all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard AcuraWatch includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning.
• Infotainment: The base model includes an 8.0-inch upper display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, text and email capability, five USB ports, SiriusXM, and an eight-speaker audio system. The Technology Package upgrades to a 9.0-inch screen and the Advance Package uses a 16.2-inch Ultra-Wide Full VGA screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model is rated at 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway/23 mpg combined, while SH-AWD returns 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway/22 mpg combined. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is rated at 26 mpg city/27 mpg highway/27 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: MDX, Technology Package, Advance Package, and MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD with Technology Package.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the value play if you want the MDX’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get standard AcuraWatch, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the basic luxury-suv essentials, so it makes sense if you care more about safety and space than premium tech upgrades.
• Technology Package: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the features many buyers will actually use, including navigation, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and upgraded audio. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Advance Package: Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience features in the gasoline lineup. It adds the surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, and Head-Up Warning, making it the most upscale non-hybrid choice.
• MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD with Technology Package: Pick this if you want the hybrid powertrain and its stronger combined output, along with the Technology Package equipment. It’s the right fit if efficiency and added performance matter more to you than sticking with the standard gasoline model.

The Technology Package is the trim where the MDX’s safety and convenience upgrades start to feel fully rounded out.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura MDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,031 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,752, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $23,752 sits slightly below last year's $26,035.

That price movement suggests the MDX has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. For a seller, the current market is a reminder that condition and equipment matter a lot, because well-kept examples should stand out more clearly against the broader inventory.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX safe?

The 2020 Acura MDX earns Good ratings from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The MDX comes standard with AcuraWatch, which includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning.

That standard safety setup is a major strength, especially for family buyers. The main caveat is that some of the more advanced safety and visibility features are reserved for higher trims, so you’ll want to compare packages carefully if those matter to you.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for standard advanced safety features and a spacious cabin.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $21,234, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $23,752 average.
• It offers a proven, long-running character with a strong balance of comfort, space, and everyday usability.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of price, inventory, and safety-equipped family utility, the 2020 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer-year market advantages, the 2019 is the more budget-friendly path.
