How much does the 2020 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 8.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,007 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Acura MDX earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, safety features, and comfort, and many also like the power it provides for family use. The overview points to a three-row luxury crossover that emphasizes comfort, convenience, and technology, which fits shoppers who want a premium family SUV with broad everyday usefulness. The main trade-offs are uninspired styling and outdated technology, so you should expect competence more than flash. With 35.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with owners highlighting comfort, safety, and a solid family-friendly character. The expert review also describes the MDX as a proven, well-rounded SUV with a loyal repeat audience, which reinforces the sense that it is built for steady long-term use. Acura’s powertrain and chassis tuning are presented as polished and confidence-inspiring, which supports the idea that the MDX is easy to live with over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle has been maintained well enough to preserve its premium features and overall condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura MDX?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with prior damage. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the cabin and technology still feel consistent with the price. Because this model is often bought as a family hauler, make sure the seating, safety systems, and electronics all work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX is nicely equipped, but it lacks the special tech extras that define the higher packages. The Technology Package adds features like navigation, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring, while the Advance Package layers in a surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, and additional comfort and convenience equipment.
• Powertrain: You get a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque, or the MDX Sport Hybrid with a 3.0-liter V6 and three electric motors making 321 hp and 289 lb-ft. The gasoline model is paired with a nine-speed automatic, while the hybrid uses a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
• Safety package: Standard AcuraWatch includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are added with the Technology Package, and Head-Up Warning comes with the Advance Package.
• Infotainment: The base model includes an 8.0-inch upper screen, an ODMD touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, SiriusXM, and an eight-speaker audio system. The Technology Package upgrades to a 9.0-inch screen and premium audio, while the Advance Package uses a 16.2-inch Ultra-Wide Full VGA screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model is rated at 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined. SH-AWD returns 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is rated at 26 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 27 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura MDX is offered in 4 trim levels: base MDX, Technology Package, Advance Package, and MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD.

Here's the short version:

• base MDX: This is the value play if you want the MDX’s core strengths without paying for the higher packages. You still get standard AcuraWatch, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the basic luxury-suv essentials, but you give up the extra convenience and driver-assistance features that make the upper trims easier to live with.
• Technology Package: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and upgraded audio without jumping all the way to the top package. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and price, this is the trim to focus on.
• Advance Package: Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including the surround-view camera, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, and Head-Up Warning. It is the right pick if you plan to keep the SUV for family duty and want the richest feature set.
• MDX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD: This is the efficiency-and-output choice, with the strongest combined power figure and the hybrid’s best fuel economy. It makes sense if you want the hybrid powertrain and are willing to shop a higher-priced version.

The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura MDX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,007 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,869, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $23,869 sits slightly below last year's $26,158.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure future resale returns if prices keep easing. If you buy at a strong price today, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The MDX’s broad appeal and family-friendly reputation should help support demand, but condition and equipment level will matter a lot when it is time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX safe?

The 2020 Acura MDX earns a Good rating from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard AcuraWatch includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and the Advance Package adds Head-Up Warning. You also get a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, plus a broad set of airbags and stability systems. The main caveat is that some safety upgrades are tied to higher trims, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for standard advanced safety features and a spacious cabin.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $21,210, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $23,869 average.
• It offers a proven, refined character with a smooth ride and a spacious interior.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of price, inventory, and safety equipment, the 2020 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2019 is the smarter value-focused alternative, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
