There are 298 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2019 Volvo S60 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Volvo S60 earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its balance of performance, luxury, and style, along with a quiet, comfortable ride and excellent handling. The review summary also points to advanced features and safety as part of its appeal.

The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and poor ergonomic design, and the expert review echoes that with criticism of the controls and interface. In practical terms, you’re looking at a sedan that fits well if you want a distinctive small luxury car with strong safety and value, but you should be ready to live with a less polished cabin experience.

35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive buys in the market.

Is the 2019 Volvo S60 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a car that owners see as a worthwhile investment, with language centered on advanced features, safety, and a generally satisfying ownership experience. The expert evaluation also describes the S60 as a strong value proposition, which supports the idea that it can be a dependable choice when maintained properly.

Volvo’s powertrain lineup is built around a 2.0-liter four-cylinder family, and the expert review notes that the T6 delivers immediate throttle and transmission response, which is a good sign for everyday drivability. The cost-effectiveness section also frames the car as competitively priced against other small luxury sedans.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright mechanical drama and more about making sure the car’s technology and prior maintenance history check out before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Volvo S60?

At 74.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or has higher mileage. Pay close attention to how the infotainment system, driver-assistance features, and cabin controls operate, since the S60’s biggest complaints center on usability rather than outright performance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Momentum trim comes with a panoramic moonroof, heated wiper-fluid nozzles, dual-zone climate control, a 60/40-split rear bench seat, power front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a strong list of driver-assistance features. The R-Design adds fog lights, power-retractable side-view mirrors, dual integrated exhaust outlets, and an R-Design steering wheel with paddle shifters. The Inscription adds genuine leather upholstery, 4-zone climate control, and the contents of the Advance Package.
• Powertrain: The base T5 uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and front-wheel drive. The T6 adds turbocharging and supercharging for 316 hp with all-wheel drive, while the T8 plug-in hybrid combines the twin-charged engine with rear electric power for 400 net hp and a 21-mile all-electric range.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, a tire-pressure-monitoring system, forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and traffic-sign recognition. The Advance Package adds a head-up display, headlight washers, a 360-degree camera, active bending headlights, and Pilot Assist.
• Infotainment: The Sensus system uses a large touchscreen interface, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. The system is also described as having a steep learning curve and occasional lag or freezing.
• Fuel efficiency: The T5 is estimated at 24 mpg city and 36 highway. The T6 is estimated at 21 mpg city, 32 highway, and 25 combined.

Which 2019 Volvo S60 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Volvo S60 is offered in 3 trim levels: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription.

Here's the short version:

• Momentum: This is the best-value trim because it already gives you the panoramic moonroof, dual-zone climate control, power seats, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a strong safety feature set. If you want the core S60 experience without stretching for extras, this is the one to target.
• R-Design: This trim is the pick if you want a sportier look and feel, with fog lights, paddle shifters, power-retractable mirrors, and dual integrated exhaust outlets. It makes sense if you care more about style and driver involvement than maximum luxury content.
• Inscription: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale cabin, with genuine leather upholstery, 4-zone climate control, and the Advance Package content included. It’s the right fit if comfort and premium features matter more than price.

The Advance Package adds a head-up display, headlight washers, a 360-degree camera, active bending headlights, and Pilot Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Volvo S60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 298 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,907, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $18,037 sits slightly below last year's $20,103.

That price movement suggests the S60 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you’re buying now and planning to sell later. If the market stays steady, a lower entry price can reduce the amount of value you lose over your ownership period.

For a future seller, the key question is whether the car’s distinctive styling and strong safety reputation continue to support demand. A well-kept example with desirable equipment should be easier to move than one with visible wear or unresolved tech issues.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Volvo S60 safe?

The 2019 Volvo S60 earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, a tire-pressure-monitoring system, forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and traffic-sign recognition. The Advance Package adds a head-up display, headlight washers, a 360-degree camera, active bending headlights, and Pilot Assist.

Should I buy a 2019 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its distinctive styling, standard advanced safety features, and strong value for money.

The bottom line: If you want a stylish small luxury sedan with strong safety credentials and a lower used-car price than it had a year ago, the 2019 is a solid path to consider. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained Momentum listings first, since they deliver the core S60 experience without pushing you into the higher-priced trims.
