CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Toyota Corolla

Summary
With 1,872 currently listed for sale and an average price of $14,849.00, 29.7% of 2019 Toyota Corollas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Toyota Corolla 4.56 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Toyota Corolla stands out as a rational, easy-to-live-with compact car that leans on Toyota’s long reputation for dependability rather than flash. It offers a wider model range than its predecessor and a degree of style and desirability that recent Corolla models have lacked, with sharp exterior details and balanced proportions helping it look more modern than the nameplate’s usual reputation might suggest. For buyers who want a straightforward daily driver, that combination of practicality, low running costs, and strong reliability is a major part of the appeal.
This generation also brings meaningful equipment and powertrain variety. The Corolla Hybrid pairs a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors for 121 combined horsepower and 52 mpg combined fuel economy, while gas versions came with either a 1.8-liter engine making 139 horsepower or a 2.0-liter unit with 169 horsepower, depending on trim. From the start, the entry-level sedan included LED headlights and tail lights, a reversing camera, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, a seven-inch touchscreen, and voice recognition. A 2023 facelift added fresh bumper designs, an eight-inch touchscreen, climate control, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, while also making remote keyless entry and a smart key system with push-button start standard on all but the entry-level sedan.
There are still some trade-offs. The Corolla has never been a style leader or trendsetter, and some versions are very bland, with limited engine choice for many years and basic interiors in older models. Even so, the 2019 Toyota Corolla remains appealing because it delivers the essentials well: comfort, ease of use, strong fuel economy, and the kind of reliability that makes it an especially sensible used-car choice.

This car is a solid purchase. The added safety features such as Toyota safety sense to prevent lane drift and adaptive cruise control make this an even more desirable model. This car is a perfect fit for my driving needs.

If youre looking for something simple and affordable that gets you from point A to point B, the 2019 Toyota Corolla is it. It has a good sized touch screen with radio, blue tooth, and settings controls. You can play music, listen to texts, reply, and take calls without any trouble or needing to look at your phone. The car has a few cool safety features such as lane detection, sensing if youre needing to brake to avoid an accident, and an anti theft gps tracking system that you can manage through an app on your phone (which is also useful in a large parking lot). Its not the most exciting car Ive driven, but the great gas mileage pretty much makes up for that. Its easily maneuverable. It doesnt have a ton of buttons like most other newer cars, which is alright because who actually cares to learn the use of 50 different buttons (I dont). I do find myself missing power controlled seat adjustment, sometimes. But for the price, and long term cost to gas and maintain the car, its a great car.

Handles very well on the road. Sleek/stylish appearance and great safety features. The SE Sport mode gives a nice little boost when needed. Very pleased overall.

Great turning radius and smooth ride. Has really good acceleration. My husband wants the manual transmission...it is harder to find.

How much does the 2019 Toyota Corolla cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $14,754 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,122.66 |
| Year-Round High | $15,021.11 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,020 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.78% |
Prices have softened 1.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,918 listings available, which suggests you have a solid pool of options to compare.
If you find a listing below $14,122.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.56/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.
Drivers consistently praise its affordability, reliability, and excellent gas mileage. Many also like the strong safety features and easy-to-use layout, which makes it a practical everyday car. For you, that means this model fits especially well if you want a straightforward commuter or daily driver rather than something sporty or flashy.
Only 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the best examples may require quick action.
Is the 2019 Toyota Corolla reliable?
Owners rate it 4.56/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary repeatedly highlights reliability, dependable performance, and a trouble-free ownership experience. It also points to the Corolla’s long-term appeal as a car you can count on, especially if you value low-stress daily use and predictable ownership.
For used buyers, that usually means lower long-term ownership risk, provided you choose a well-maintained example.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Corolla?
At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with past damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage listings or cars with incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car still feels tight, clean, and well cared for.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Corolla?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,918 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.78% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,122.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Toyota Corolla's resale value?
The current average of $14,754 sits slightly below last year's $15,020.
That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests resale values may not be climbing quickly in the near term. If you plan to sell later, the Corolla’s value will likely depend more on condition, mileage, and maintenance history than on market momentum alone. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move because the model’s reputation still supports steady demand.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.78% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $16,563, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $14,754 average.
- The redesign adds a more engaging personality and a bit more style.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter primary path because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling design and a more engaging personality, the 2020 is the better secondary path for price-insensitive buyers.
