CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Summary
With 303 currently listed for sale near Washington, DC and an average price of $24,445, 29.7% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 4.67 / 5 stars.
71.9% of 2019 E-Class models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out as a luxury mid-size car that blends comfort, technology, and a broad range of powertrains. In this generation, the E-Class sedan was described as looking more like a scaled-down S-Class, and it offered a high-tech cabin with two side-by-side 12.3-inch display screens in most versions. Standard equipment was generous, with electric adjustment for the steering wheel and front seats, a rear-view camera, satellite navigation, LED headlamps, and a wide array of driver-assistance safety features. Buyers also had plenty of choice in the lineup, from rear-wheel-drive four-cylinder and six-cylinder models to all-wheel-drive versions and high-performance AMG variants.
What makes the 2019 model especially appealing is how much luxury it delivers even before options are added. The cabin was praised for its luxurious, high-tech feel, and the car was noted for being beautifully built and generally reliable. At the same time, it is not the cheapest choice in the class, and some owners have reported juddering brakes and glitchy infotainment systems. Even so, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class remains distinctive for combining prestige, comfort, and advanced features in a package that still feels substantial and well equipped.

Solid as a rock. A real cruiser, pretty low to the ground but the interior is as impeccable as an Italian suit. Except it is German! Quiet, composed and no one can tell how old it is. Bought it as a second car, and it shines. Run flats are noisy, may need different tires but so far that’s it. Get one that has been cared for.

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,817 |
| Year-Round Low | $27,091 |
| Year-Round High | $29,043 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $29,039 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.21% |
Prices have softened 4.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,220 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its luxurious feel, smooth ride, powerful performance, and handling, while also noting that the cabin still feels upscale and well equipped. For you, that means this model year makes the most sense if you want a premium mid-size car that balances comfort, technology, and driving enjoyment. With 36.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Reviewers describe it as reliable, and the feedback also points to a generally trouble-free ownership experience with strong confidence in the car’s long-term appeal. That said, a few owners mention aging interior design, so you should still judge each used example on condition rather than assuming every car has been equally well kept. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s overall reputation and more about how well a specific car has been maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of brake issues, infotainment glitches, or uneven wear. Focus on overall condition, service history, and how well the car’s luxury features still function, since those details matter a lot in a used premium sedan.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.
- Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,220 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.21% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,091, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?
The current average of $27,817 sits slightly below last year's $29,039.
That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. Because the market still shows meaningful demand and a strong owner rating, a well-kept example should remain easier to resell than a neglected one. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organized, you improve your odds of getting stronger value later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.21% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $23,427, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $27,817 average.
- It emphasizes refinement, prestige, and strong owner praise.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $30,429, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $27,817 average.
- It adds a new base engine and broader upscale appeal.
The bottom line: The 2019 is the best all-around choice if you want a strong mix of satisfaction, pricing momentum, and available inventory. If your priority is saving money, the 2018 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the natural upgrade.
