CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Summary
With 1,221 currently listed for sale and an average price of $27,953, 34.7% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 4.67 / 5 stars.
64.8% of 2019 E-Class models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out as a luxury mid-size car that blends comfort, technology, and a broad range of powertrains. In this generation, the E-Class sedan was described as looking more like a scaled-down S-Class, and it offered a high-tech cabin with two side-by-side 12.3-inch display screens in most versions. Standard equipment was generous, with electric adjustment for the steering wheel and front seats, a rear-view camera, satellite navigation, LED headlamps, and a wide array of driver-assistance safety features. Buyers also had plenty of choice in the lineup, from rear-wheel-drive four-cylinder and six-cylinder models to all-wheel-drive versions and high-performance AMG variants.
What makes the 2019 model especially appealing is how much luxury it delivers even before options are added. The cabin was praised for its luxurious, high-tech feel, and the car was noted for being beautifully built and generally reliable. At the same time, it is not the cheapest choice in the class, and some owners have reported juddering brakes and glitchy infotainment systems. Even so, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class remains distinctive for combining prestige, comfort, and advanced features in a package that still feels substantial and well equipped.

Solid as a rock. A real cruiser, pretty low to the ground but the interior is as impeccable as an Italian suit. Except it is German! Quiet, composed and no one can tell how old it is. Bought it as a second car, and it shines. Run flats are noisy, may need different tires but so far that’s it. Get one that has been cared for.

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $27,868 |
| Year-Round Low | $27,102 |
| Year-Round High | $29,198 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $29,189 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.53% |
Prices have softened 4.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,233 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?
Yes — the 4.67/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its luxurious feel, smooth ride, and powerful performance, while also highlighting its handling and comfort. The model’s broad appeal fits well if you want a premium midsize car with a high-tech cabin and a strong mix of comfort and technology. With 35.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Reviewers describe it as reliable, and the feedback also emphasizes a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. The car’s strong comfort and performance reputation adds to the sense that it can be a solid long-term choice when maintained properly. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that premium-car repair and upkeep costs can rise if prior maintenance has been inconsistent.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of brake issues, infotainment glitches, or uneven wear. Focus on overall condition and maintenance history, since those factors matter more when you are shopping a luxury car with premium ownership costs.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to find value.
- Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,233 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.53% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,102, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?
The current average of $27,868 sits slightly below last year's $29,189.
That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the car in strong condition, because premium models tend to hold interest better when they are clean, well documented, and lightly worn. A softer market today can still support decent resale later if you avoid overpaying and maintain the car carefully.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.53% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $23,479, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $27,868 average.
- It emphasizes refinement, prestige, and premium comfort.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $30,331, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $27,868 average.
- It adds a new base engine and broader upscale appeal.
The bottom line: The 2019 is the best all-around pick if you want a strong mix of satisfaction, value, and current-market availability. If your priority is spending less, the 2018 is the better price-first alternative. If you want a newer-feeling option and are willing to pay more, the 2020 is the natural step up.
