CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Summary
With 1,265 currently listed for sale and an average price of $27,697.00, 34.9% of 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 4.67 / 5 stars.
64.6% of 2019 E-Class models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out as a luxury mid-size car that blends comfort, technology, and a broad range of powertrains. In this generation, the E-Class sedan is described as looking like a scaled-down S-Class, with a luxurious, high-tech cabin and two side-by-side 12.3-inch display screens that create the appearance of one large screen. Standard equipment is generous even on the least expensive version, with electric adjustment for the steering wheel and front seats, a rear-view camera, satellite navigation, LED headlamps, and a wealth of driver-assistance safety features. That combination makes it feel like a true luxury car rather than simply a well-equipped sedan.
For 2019, the lineup includes rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive sedan versions, both with mild-hybrid technology and a nine-speed automatic transmission. The E350 sedan uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 295 horsepower, while the E450 4Matic sedan uses a 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine with 369 horsepower. The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid sits at the top of the range with 577 horsepower, 553 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of less than four seconds. Buyers looking at this car are getting a model that was already known for strong comfort and prestige, but the tradeoff is that it remains expensive, and some owners have noted that the interior design is starting to show its age.

Solid as a rock. A real cruiser, pretty low to the ground but the interior is as impeccable as an Italian suit. Except it is German! Quiet, composed and no one can tell how old it is. Bought it as a second car, and it shines. Run flats are noisy, may need different tires but so far that’s it. Get one that has been cared for.

Prices have softened 4.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,269 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $27,370.73, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its luxurious feel, smooth ride, and powerful engine options, especially the turbocharged setup. It also stands out for comfort and handling, making it appealing if you want a refined sedan for daily driving or longer trips. With 32.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Reviewers describe it as reliable and dependable, with a reputation that supports trouble-free ownership for many buyers. The feedback also points to confidence in the car over the long term, especially when it has been well maintained. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about how carefully a specific example has been cared for.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
At 63.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for accidents, title issues, and inconsistent mileage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus your condition check on signs of prior bodywork, interior wear, and any evidence that maintenance may have been deferred.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,269 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.00% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,370.73, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?
The current average of $27,786 sits slightly below last year's $28,944.
That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market continues to cool. If you plan to sell later, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot, because buyers in this segment tend to reward well-kept examples. Strong ownership satisfaction can help support demand, but the current trend suggests you should expect steady rather than rising value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.00% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $23,337, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $27,786 average.
- It emphasizes luxury comfort and advanced tech with a highly refined ride.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $30,233, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $27,786 average.
- It adds a new base engine and broader body-style choices.
The bottom line: The 2019 is the best all-around path if you want strong owner satisfaction, a softer price trend, and enough inventory to shop carefully. If your priority is saving money, the 2018 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for newer features and broader choice, the 2020 is the upgrade path.
