How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,195 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The E-Class stands out for offering a rare kind of luxury in a class of one, especially in Cabriolet form. It also leans on established strengths after a substantial refresh for the prior model year, so you’re shopping a polished luxury car rather than a major redesign. For buyers who want a premium experience with useful updates, that’s a strong formula.

The market also shows 37.7% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 E-Class builds on a substantial refresh and keeps the lineup focused on turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder power plants. The expert test drive data also points to a car that feels refined, with a luxe interior, strong technology, and a broad range of body styles and configurations. Its EQ Boost mild-hybrid setup is described as improving both power output and efficiency, which supports the impression of a well-engineered powertrain.

If you buy used, long-term ownership risk is mostly about choosing a well-kept example with the right equipment and maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the convertible top, electronics, and any wear from luxury features that can be expensive to sort out later. Focus on condition, equipment operation, and whether the car has the options you actually want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon body styles, and the E-Class can be configured from a more understated E350 sedan to an E450 with a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six and EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. The AMG E53 adds a more powerful version of that engine, AMG styling, and a more performance-focused character, while the base E350 is the least expensive way in.
• Powertrain: You’ll find a turbocharged four-cylinder in the E350 and a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost in the E450, while AMG E53 models use a more powerful version of the six-cylinder. The performance setup is described as robust, with strong response across the rev range and an AMG Speedshift nine-speed automatic in AMG versions.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.
• Infotainment: The E-Class uses MBUX with two 12.3-inch screens, including a touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it also offers WiFi service and an augmented reality navigation overlay.
• Fuel efficiency: The E450 convertible is described as a way to save money versus a loaded AMG model while still getting robust acceleration and the MBUX system, but no MPG figure is stated.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 3 trim levels: E350, E450, and AMG E53.

Here's the short version:

• E350: This is the entry point if you want the E-Class experience with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the most accessible price. It makes the most sense if you care more about luxury, style, and everyday comfort than maximum performance.
• E450: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds the turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology while keeping the E-Class’s upscale feel and broad appeal. If you want stronger performance without jumping to AMG pricing, this is the trim to target.
• AMG E53: Choose this if you want the most performance-focused version in the lineup, with the more powerful six-cylinder setup, AMG tuning, and a more aggressive driving character. It suits you best if driving enjoyment matters more than value.

The Driver Assistance Package is the key safety add-on to look for, since many advanced driver aids are bundled there.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,195 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,963, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $39,004 sits slightly below last year's $42,033.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, it also means you should pay close attention to purchase price, because starting lower gives you more room to preserve value later. Well-equipped examples with strong condition and desirable options should be easier to move than stripped or neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It has standard forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Mercedes Pre Safe and Pre Safe Sound are also standard, and the Cabriolet adds pop-up rollbars for rollover protection. The Driver Assistance Package brings adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 lineup drops the AMG E63 and E63 S, but keeps turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder power with useful standard updates.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,986, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $39,004 average.
• It offers four body styles, four engines, and broad configurability.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market value and the updated 2022 lineup, this year is the smarter default choice. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the better path, especially if you find one with the equipment and condition you want.
