Used 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 for Sale nearPhoenix, AZ

How much does the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 cost?

Prices have softened 3.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 565 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 8.00/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable driving experience, smooth ride, upscale interior features, performance, and handling. In practical terms, that lines up with a compact car that feels more refined and more engaging than many rivals.

The trade-offs are the unintuitive technology and cramped back seat. That means you should think of it as a strong fit if you want a polished, fun-to-drive compact car and can live with less rear-seat space and a less intuitive interface.

The 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 is especially appealing if you want a small car that feels upscale and athletic rather than purely utilitarian. Good and great deals account for 32.2% of listings, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it in ways that point to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, smoothness, and overall satisfaction. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the car’s composed ride, responsive acceleration, athletic handling, and responsive brakes, which supports the sense that it’s built to be a car you can count on day to day.

The cost-effectiveness coverage also notes that the car delivers a lot of content for the money, which can help reduce regret over time if you buy the right trim. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mazda MAZDA3?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced car. Focus on body condition, interior wear, and whether the technology and safety systems work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base sedan is lighter on content than the base hatchback, while the hatchback adds 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, dual-zone automatic climate control, a drowsiness alert, synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped shift knob. The base sedan includes 16-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, LED head- and taillights, an 8-speaker sound system, the infotainment system, and one-touch up and down power windows for all four windows.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The most efficient version is the front-wheel-drive automatic sedan with the Premium package at 27 mpg city, 36 highway, 30 combined, while the least efficient is the AWD hatchback at 24/32/27.
• Safety package: Mazda’s i-Activsense suite includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and driver-attention alerts. It comes standard on the base hatchback, but not on the base sedan, where many of those features require the Select Sedan trim.
• Infotainment: The car uses an 8.8-inch MazdaConnect screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is remote-controlled rather than touch-operated, so you should make sure you’re comfortable with the interface before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The lineup returns 27 mpg city, 36 highway, 30 combined in the most efficient configuration, 24/32/27 in the least efficient AWD hatchback, 25/33/28 in the AWD sedan, 25/35/29 in the FWD manual hatchback, and 26/35/30 in the FWD automatic sedan and hatchback.

Which 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 5 trim levels: base Sedan, Select Sedan, Preferred Sedan, base Hatchback, and Preferred Hatchback.

Here's the short version:

• base Sedan: This is the least expensive entry point, and it gives you the core Mazda3 experience with 16-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, LED lighting, an 8-speaker sound system, the 8.8-inch infotainment screen, and one-touch power windows for all four windows. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the richer standard safety content of the hatchback.
• Select Sedan: This is the better-value sedan choice because it closes much of the equipment gap between the base sedan and the hatchback. It also serves as the point where many of the advanced safety features become available, making it the smarter pick if you want a more complete daily driver without moving up too far in price.
• Preferred Sedan: This trim adds an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, power-adjustable side mirrors, satellite radio, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system. It suits you if comfort and audio quality matter more than keeping the price as low as possible.
• base Hatchback: This is the CarGurus Recommended Trim, and it stands out because it bundles a lot of desirable equipment, including 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, dual-zone automatic climate control, a drowsiness alert, synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped shift knob. It also comes standard with Mazda’s i-Activsense safety suite, so it’s the best-value choice if you want the most complete package.
• Preferred Hatchback: This trim builds on the hatchback’s strong standard equipment with the same upscale comfort and audio upgrades found in the Preferred Sedan, making it the right choice if you want the hatchback body style with more luxury touches.

The base hatchback is the best-value trim, and the hatchback’s standard i-Activsense suite is a major safety advantage over the base sedan.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mazda MAZDA3?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and enough pricing softness to reward comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 565 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.70% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,919, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

The current average of $16,842 sits slightly below last year's $17,489.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the car in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s i-Activsense suite includes automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and driver-attention alerts. Those features are standard on the base hatchback, but not on the base sedan, so trim choice matters if safety equipment is a priority.

One caveat is that the hatchback’s large C-pillars create big blind spots, and the parking brake’s auto-engage behavior can feel unintuitive. If you want the safest-feeling setup, pay close attention to visibility and make sure the driver-assistance features you want are included on the exact trim you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2019 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 redesign is the model’s masterstroke, bringing a more upscale feel and standard advanced safety features.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $17,872, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,842 average.
• It pushes the Mazda3 further toward near-luxury territory.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, style, and driving enjoyment, the 2019 is the stronger buy. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly more refined-feeling follow-up, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
