Used 2019 Mazda CX-9 for Sale near Ohio

How much does the 2019 Mazda CX-9 cost?

Prices have softened 7.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 500 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable amount of inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Mazda CX-9 earns a 4.62/5 user rating, and our experts rate it 7/10 overall. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its performance, handling, and luxurious-feeling features at a competitive price, and many also like the spacious interior and safety equipment. The main trade-offs are the outdated technology, limited cargo space, and less-than-ideal ergonomics.

That lines up with the CX-9’s use case: you’re getting a three-row family SUV that feels more polished and engaging than many rivals, but you’re also accepting some practicality compromises in exchange for style and driving enjoyment. With 32.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its performance, safety features, and overall family-friendly usefulness. That kind of feedback matters when you’re looking for a used SUV you can count on over time.

The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the CX-9 as a roomy and safe family-sized crossover with a strong overall package. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether you’ll be comfortable living with its dated tech and packaging compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mazda CX-9?

At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one priced near the low end of the market. Pay close attention to body condition, interior wear, and whether the cabin electronics and driver-assistance features work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport trim is the most basic version, and the content shows that it can feel stripped compared with the better-equipped versions. Higher trims add a more upscale cabin and more standard convenience and safety equipment, so you should compare feature content carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: The CX-9 uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 227 hp on regular fuel and 250 hp on premium fuel, plus 310 lb.-ft. of torque. The drivetrain is praised for strong low-speed response and smooth shifting, but passing power can feel limited once you’re already up to speed.
• Safety package: Mazda’s driver-assistance suite includes low-speed automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, pedestrian detection, full-speed-range automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and rain-sensing wipers. The Sport trim needs an option package for the full set, while other versions get these features standard.
• Infotainment: Mazda Connect includes a touchscreen that works only when the vehicle is stationary, plus control through the center console, steering wheel, and voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system also supports E911 service.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation says the CX-9 should have returned 23 mpg in combined driving, but the test vehicle averaged 19.9 mpg over nearly 700 miles.

Which 2019 Mazda CX-9 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mazda CX-9 is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Signature.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it’s also the trim where you’re most likely to feel the CX-9’s cost-cutting. It can be a smart buy if price matters most, but you should expect the fewest upscale touches and the least standard equipment.
• Touring: This is the trim that makes the most sense for many shoppers because it moves you beyond the bare-bones feel of the Sport while staying below the top-end pricing. If you want the best balance of value and equipment, this is the one to focus on first.
• Grand Touring: This trim is for you if you want a more premium-feeling CX-9 with more comfort and convenience content. It’s a better fit if you plan to keep the SUV for family duty and want a richer ownership experience.
• Signature: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with creamy Nappa leather, real wood trim, and other upscale details that give the cabin a more premium look and feel. It’s the right pick if you care most about presentation and are willing to pay for it.

Regardless of trim, the CX-9 can be fitted with the most important driver-assistance and collision-avoidance technologies, but the Sport needs an option package to match the standard safety equipment on the other versions.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mazda CX-9?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 500 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.51% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,110, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $18,134 sits slightly below last year's $19,606.

That price movement suggests the CX-9 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. A softer market can also make it easier for you to find a well-equipped example without paying peak pricing.

If demand stays steady, a used CX-9 with the right trim and condition should remain reasonably attractive to family buyers who want style and driving enjoyment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mazda CX-9 safe?

The 2019 Mazda CX-9 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, though it also earns four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection for the driver and front passenger.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s safety suite includes low-speed automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, pedestrian detection, full-speed-range automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and rain-sensing wipers. The Sport trim needs an option package to get the full set, while the other trims include these features standard.

That makes the CX-9 a strong family-hauling choice, but the frontal-impact caveat is worth keeping in mind if safety is your top priority.

Should I buy a 2019 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 model brings a roomy, safe, and stylish three-row package with strong handling, but it also carries outdated technology and limited cargo space.

The bottom line: If you want the CX-9’s upscale styling and engaging driving feel, the 2019 is a solid year to target, especially if you can find one with a clean history and a price near the lower end of the range. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare it carefully against nearby years and focus on the best-equipped trim you can afford, since the value story improves as you move up from the base model.
