How much does the 2019 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 9.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,703 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Kia Sorento earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its comfortable ride, spacious interior, and strong value, and many also like the third-row seating and smooth road manners. The overview points to a stylish, even luxurious feel with practical family appeal, plus plenty of room for a family of four.

With 30.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a well-priced example.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as a comfortable, value-focused SUV that many can count on for everyday use, and the feedback also points to a roomy cabin and smooth road manners. The expert review reinforces that dependability angle by highlighting the Sorento’s class-leading warranty and roadside assistance coverage.

Kia’s coverage includes a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which helps reduce long-term ownership risk for used buyers.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with multiple owners. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re shopping.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the L and moves through LX, EX, SX, and SX Limited. The base L is the most stripped-down version, while the EX adds a much richer feature set, and the SX Limited brings the most upscale cabin materials and equipment.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 185-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, while a 290-horsepower, 3.3-liter V6 is available and becomes standard on higher trims. The V6 is the stronger choice if you want smoother, quicker acceleration.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are included on all versions except the base L. The EX adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention monitoring.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add UVO eServices, and the top navigation setup brings an 8-inch touchscreen, SiriusXM traffic data, HD Radio, and a wireless charging tray on SX and SX Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 test vehicle returned 20.7 mpg, and the review notes an official 21 mpg combined rating for that setup.

Which 2019 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2019 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX, SX Limited.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, but it’s the most basic version and misses key safety tech that you get on higher trims. It makes sense only if your budget is tight and you’re comfortable keeping expectations modest.
• LX: This is the better starting point if you want a more usable daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder. It adds more flexibility, and it’s the trim where the available V6 can make a big difference if you want stronger performance.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the most important comfort, convenience, and safety upgrades, including the richer UVO eServices setup and a much fuller driver-assistance package.
• SX: This trim adds more premium equipment and can be paired with the 360-degree surround-view camera system as an option. It suits you if you want a more upscale Sorento without going all the way to the top.
• SX Limited: This is the most luxurious version, with the most upscale cabin materials, standard navigation-equipped infotainment, and the surround-view camera system. It’s the right pick if you want the most features and don’t mind paying for them.

The safety package is strongest on the EX, SX, and SX Limited, which all include lane-keeping assist and driver-attention monitoring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Sorento?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,703 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,676, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $13,676 sits slightly below last year's $15,040.

That decline suggests the Sorento has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier to move later if you price it competitively. For a future seller, the softer market means condition, trim, and equipment will matter more when it comes time to list the vehicle.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Kia Sorento safe?

The Kia Sorento gets top marks from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The EX, SX, and SX Limited trims include the most complete driver-assistance package, with adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and driver-attention monitoring. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on every version except the base L.

Should I buy a 2019 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 model stands out for its updated styling, strong safety tech, and broad trim range.

The bottom line: If you want a well-rounded used Sorento with strong safety, a comfortable ride, and good value, the 2019 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on the best-maintained examples, but the 2019’s combination of features and softened pricing makes it the more compelling choice.

How does the 2019 Kia Sorento compare to the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Our experts score the 2019 Kia Sorento 8.5/10 and the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 8.2/10.

The Sorento has the edge in expert scoring and stands out for its strong safety and technology ratings, while the Santa Fe offers a slightly better deal share and a higher accident-free share. If you want the stronger all-around value proposition with more available inventory and a lower average used price, the Sorento is the more compelling pick; if you prioritize a cleaner listing pool, the Santa Fe has an advantage there.
