How much does the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 12.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,859 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its value, safety features, comfort, spacious interior, and ride quality. That lines up well with its role as a practical crossover that sits between compact and midsize SUVs, giving you a useful middle ground if you want everyday usability without moving up to a larger SUV. The market also shows 32.6% good and great deals, which adds to the appeal if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free feel overall, with many drivers saying they appreciate the Santa Fe’s value, comfort, and everyday usability over the long term. The expert evaluation also emphasizes solid value and composed driving, which supports the impression that this is a crossover you can count on for regular use.

There are still some ownership risks to keep in mind, especially because some drivers noted occasional reliability concerns, particularly involving the battery.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, electronics, and any signs of prior repair quality. Because this model is often bought for comfort and safety, condition matters a lot: make sure the cabin, driver-assistance features, and infotainment system all work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE trim brings 17-inch alloy wheels, high-beam assist, power heated side mirrors, LED daytime running lights, manual seats, and remote keyless entry. The SEL adds fog lights, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and push-button start, while the SEL Plus adds 18-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, rear-occupant alert, dual automatic climate control, and a 630-watt Infinity sound system with 12 speakers. The Limited adds full LED head- and taillights, turn signals in the side mirrors, satin chrome door handles, a panoramic sunroof, and leather seating, while the Ultimate adds rain-sensing wipers, memory settings for the front seats, heated front and rear seats, and ventilated front seats.
• Powertrain: All trims use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 185 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, while the Limited and Ultimate are also available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 235 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Power goes through an 8-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels or available all-wheel drive, and the base engine is described as sluggish while the turbo is praised for strong acceleration.
• Safety package: Smart Sense includes forward-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control that can stop and go with traffic, rear cross-path detection, and visual cues in the instrument panel. Safe Exit Assist is also standard, tying the rear child-proof locks to blind-spot monitoring so the rear doors won’t open if a vehicle is approaching from the side.
• Infotainment: The base SE gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a USB port. SEL and above add satellite radio, HD Radio, and BlueLink with Alexa integration, while the Ultimate upgrades to an 8-inch touchscreen, a head-up display, and a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive 2.4-liter version is rated at 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The AWD turbo model is rated at 19 mpg city, 24 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value pick if you want the most standard equipment for the money, including the 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, LED daytime running lights, and the full Smart Sense safety suite.
• SEL: This is the step-up choice if you want a better daily-driver experience, thanks to heated front seats, push-button start, and an 8-way power driver’s seat.
• SEL Plus: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful comfort and convenience upgrades like parking sensors, rear-occupant alert, dual-zone climate control, and the upgraded Infinity audio system.
• Limited: Choose this if you want a more premium feel, with leather seating, a panoramic sunroof, and full LED lighting.
• Ultimate: This is the top choice if you want the most features, including ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, memory settings, rain-sensing wipers, a larger touchscreen, and a head-up display.

Smart Sense is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,859 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.16% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,801, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $14,801 sits slightly below last year's $16,851.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell. The Santa Fe’s broad appeal, safety reputation, and comfort-focused ownership experience should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, and Hyundai’s Smart Sense driver-assistance suite. That suite includes forward-collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control that can stop and go with traffic, rear cross-path detection, and Safe Exit Assist. The standard safety equipment is a major strength, especially because it is included across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers a value-focused middle ground between compact and midsize SUVs.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $14,436, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $14,801 average.
• It emphasizes safety, roominess, and dependability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $16,425, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $14,801 average.
• It adds useful updates like a rear-seat reminder and an available Blind-Spot View Monitor.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, safety, and comfort, the 2019 is the strongest all-around pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2018 is the more budget-friendly route. If you want newer features and are willing to pay more, the 2020 is worth a look.

How does the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe compare to the 2019 Kia Sorento?

Our experts score the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 8.2/10 and the 2019 Kia Sorento 8.5/10. The Sorento edges ahead overall, but the Santa Fe still stands out as the stronger value play in this matchup. You get a slightly higher average used price, more listings, and a better share of good and great deals with the Santa Fe, while the Sorento has the advantage in expert score and lower average used price. If you want the better shopping environment, the Santa Fe is compelling; if you want the slightly stronger expert pick, the Sorento has the edge.
