Is the 2019 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 4.54/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the comfortable ride, solid performance, and great gas mileage, while also appreciating the safety features and available technology. For you, that means the 2019 Kona makes the most sense if you want a small SUV with personality, useful equipment, and broad everyday appeal. With 33.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on the comfortable ride, solid performance, and strong fuel economy. That kind of response usually matters most when you want a used vehicle you can count on day to day. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Kona?

At 69% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, put a pre-purchase inspection at the top of your list, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your condition check on the areas that matter most in a compact SUV: bodywork, interior wear, cargo-area usability, and whether the equipment you want is actually present and working.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Kona?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.57% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,434, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $13,741 sits slightly below last year's $14,103.

That softer pricing suggests the Kona is in a market where buyers have some leverage, which can matter if you plan to sell later. A lower current average can make it easier to buy in at a reasonable level, but it also means your future resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment. Well-kept examples should hold up better than average because shoppers still respond to the Kona’s mix of style, features, and efficiency.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $15,189, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $13,741 average.
• It adds more standard driver assists and feels more up to date.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and a decent share of deal-priced listings. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model with added standard driver assists, the 2020 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize updated equipment over upfront savings.
