Is the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — based on a 5/5 user rating, you’re looking at a model that resonates strongly with shoppers. The 2019 Civic Hatchback stands out for its sporty, European-inspired design, practical hatchback body style, and modern tech like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gives you useful flexibility with five trims and both manual and CVT transmission choices, so you can shop for a setup that fits how you drive. With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s also a decent amount of market value to work with.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview points to a car that’s appealing for its practicality, available manual transmissions, and strong feature content, but it also notes that reliability is not uniformly perfect across the lineup. That means you should expect a generally attractive ownership experience, while still paying attention to maintenance history and how the car has been used.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is ending up with a poorly maintained example, so condition and service records matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback?

At 53% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any car you’re seriously considering and confirm whether it has had collision repairs, title issues, or repeated claims. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear or repair quality. Because the model’s appeal depends on getting the right mix of practicality and features, make sure the specific car you’re considering matches the equipment and condition you expect.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Inventory: There are 921 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,144, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $18,386 sits slightly below last year's $19,378.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For future resale, that also means your upside may depend more on choosing a clean, well-kept example than on expecting broad market appreciation. If you buy smart and keep the car in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,758, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,386 average.
• It offers a more engaging, stylish hatchback experience with a less dated-feeling cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid deal availability. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the better secondary path for price-sensitive buyers who still want the Civic Hatchback formula.
