Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the 2019 Sierra 2500HD’s appeal comes from its heavy-duty capability paired with a more upscale feel than many rivals. It also offers a broad mix of cab, bed, and trim choices, so you can tailor it for jobsite use or everyday driving. The Denali trim adds extra polish if you want a more premium heavy-duty truck. With 32.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Sierra 2500HD is described as having electrical problems tied to wiring and sensor flaws, hard-shifting automatic transmissions, and glitchy infotainment software and interfaces. It also shows signs of inconsistent panel gaps, peeling paint, and premature rusting. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is less about the truck’s core capability and more about finding one that has been maintained carefully and inspected thoroughly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

At 71.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on electrical behavior, transmission operation, infotainment function, and signs of rust or paint issues. Because this truck can be used hard, condition matters as much as mileage, so focus on maintenance records and evidence of careful ownership.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 954 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,879, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $39,537 sits slightly below last year's $42,537.

That softer pricing can help you buy more truck for the money today, but it also means future resale gains may be harder to count on if the market stays loose. A well-kept example with clean history and strong equipment should hold up better than one with visible wear or repair history. If you plan to resell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $48,555, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $39,537 average.
• It adds a more upscale Denali identity with stronger premium appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value path, the 2019 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid deal availability. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer, more premium-feeling truck, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
