Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2019 Sierra 2500HD stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that blends work-truck capability with a more upscale feel than many rivals, and it offers a broad mix of cab, bed, and trim choices that can suit both jobsite duty and everyday use. It also brings a premium-leaning cabin and a wider feature set than many competitors in the segment. With 30.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2019 Sierra 2500HD is described as capable and upscale, but it also comes with known trouble spots such as electrical issues, hard-shifting transmissions, glitchy infotainment, and signs of uneven build quality. That means a used example can be a smart buy if it has been maintained carefully, but you should expect higher ownership risk than you would with a simpler truck.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

At 70.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you get too far into the process. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the electrical systems, transmission behavior, infotainment operation, paint, panel alignment, and rust-prone areas. If possible, focus on trucks with clean maintenance records and consistent condition across the body, cabin, and mechanicals.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 967 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,897, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $40,395 sits slightly below last year's $42,588.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well, keep the truck in strong condition, and avoid examples with accident history or visible wear that could weaken demand later. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $48,344, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $40,395 average.
• It adds a more upscale Denali-focused identity with stronger premium appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid inventory and a favorable deal share. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer truck with a more premium presentation, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
