What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford F-150?

At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Focus on wear items, cabin condition, and evidence of hard use, since the F-150’s appeal often depends on how well it has been maintained. If you’re comparing multiple listings, condition and service history should matter as much as trim and mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is a true work truck with a reversing camera, AM/FM radio, a 4.2-inch audio-system screen, and dynamic hitch assist, while the XLT adds power windows and locks plus an 8-inch Sync 3 screen. Higher trims bring more comfort and luxury, and the Limited adds a 360-degree camera system as standard.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a base 3.3-liter V6, a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, a 5.0-liter V8, and a 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6. The diesel stands out for its torque and smooth, quiet driving feel, while the 10-speed automatic is used across most of the lineup.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 360-degree camera system is standard on the Limited and optional on the rest of the lineup.
• Infotainment: Base trucks use a 4.2-inch screen with Bluetooth, while XLT and higher trims get an 8-inch Sync 3 touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Higher trims can also add a Wi-Fi hotspot and premium audio.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 30 highway, 25 combined with rear-wheel drive, and the 2.7-liter EcoBoost returns 20 mpg city, 26 highway, 22 combined with rear-wheel drive.

Which 2019 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2019 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most basic work-truck choice, so it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the nicer cabin and tech found higher up. It’s best if you mainly care about utility and don’t need much beyond the essentials.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds power windows and locks plus the larger 8-inch Sync 3 screen with USB connectivity. If you want a more livable daily driver without jumping deep into luxury pricing, this is the trim to target.
• Lariat: This trim is the right step up if you want a more upscale cabin, with leather, heated and ventilated front seats, and satellite radio. It suits buyers who want comfort to matter as much as capability.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into luxury with distinctive interior treatment and premium touches, making it a strong pick if you want a more distinctive, upscale truck. It’s for shoppers who want the F-150’s capability wrapped in a richer cabin.
• Platinum: This trim pushes further into luxury with unique wood-panel interior details and power-deploying running boards. It’s a good fit if you want a more polished, premium-feeling truck.
• Raptor: This is the off-road performance model, with a wide-body kit, underbody armor, and Fox Racing Shox. Choose it if your priority is rugged performance rather than everyday value.
• Limited: This is the top luxury trim, with 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, a dual-panel moonroof, dual exhaust, and massaging seats. It’s the one to buy if you want the most upscale F-150 experience.

The Limited’s 360-degree camera system is standard, while it’s optional on the rest of the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,684 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,799, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $25,800 sits slightly below last year's $27,750.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make the truck easier to purchase now but may also temper near-term resale upside for a future seller. If you buy at a strong price and keep the truck in clean condition, you can help protect your value better than the broader market trend alone would suggest. Trucks with broad appeal and strong feature content tend to stay easier to resell than more niche vehicles.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2019 Ford F-150 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera. The available driver-assistance suite includes blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 360-degree camera system is standard on the Limited and optional on the rest of the lineup, so lower trims may require an upgrade if you want that extra visibility.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6 and keeps the truck broadly well-rounded.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $23,655, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $25,800 average.
• It’s a highly capable, well-rounded pickup with standout towing and efficiency.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,768, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $25,800 average.
• It adds a more modern, accommodating cabin with broader everyday comfort.

The bottom line: The 2019 makes sense if you want a proven, well-rounded F-150 with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used price than last year. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2018 is the better value play; if you want a newer-feeling cabin and can spend more, the 2020 is the upgrade path.
