What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford F-150?

At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Focus on wear items, signs of body repair, and whether the cabin and controls match the mileage and asking price. If you’re comparing multiple trims, pay close attention to how much equipment you’re getting for the money.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is a true work truck with a reversing camera, AM/FM radio, a 4.2-inch audio-system screen, and dynamic hitch assist for towing. The XLT adds power windows and locks, a larger 8-inch Sync 3 infotainment screen, and a USB port. The Lariat adds a leather interior, heated and ventilated front seats, and satellite radio. The King Ranch adds a distinctive Camel Back upholstery option and embroidered interior details. The Platinum adds a unique wood-panel interior and power-deploying running boards. The Raptor is the off-road performance model with a wide-body kit, underbody armor, and Fox Racing Shox. The Limited adds 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, a dual-panel moonroof, dual exhaust, and massaging seats.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V6, a 3.3-liter V6, a 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and a 5.0-liter V8. The diesel is described as smooth, quiet, and capable of up to 11,400 pounds of towing when properly equipped, while the 2.7-liter EcoBoost is the most efficient non-diesel engine.
• Safety package: Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera. Available driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 360-degree camera system is standard on the Limited and optional on the rest of the lineup.
• Infotainment: The base XL uses a 4.2-inch center-stack screen with audio controls and Bluetooth connectivity. XLT and higher trims get Sync 3 with an 8-inch color touchscreen, intuitive menus, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. An available Wi-Fi hotspot and B&O Play premium sound system are also mentioned.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 30 highway, and 25 combined with rear-wheel drive, or 20 city, 25 highway, and 22 combined with 4WD. Which 2019 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most basic work-truck choice, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point and can live without many comfort or tech extras.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds power windows and locks, the larger 8-inch Sync 3 screen, and a USB port without jumping into luxury pricing.
• Lariat: This is the right step up if you want a more comfortable cabin, with leather, heated and ventilated front seats, and satellite radio.
• King Ranch: This trim leans into upscale style and comfort, with distinctive interior treatment and a more premium feel for buyers who want a luxury-truck vibe.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more polished luxury setup, including wood-panel interior trim and power-deploying running boards.
• Raptor: This is the off-road performance choice, with a wide-body kit, underbody armor, and Fox Racing Shox.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still room for a smart deal.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 14,044 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,748, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $25,748 sits slightly below last year's $27,586.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays under pressure. For a seller, the key takeaway is that a well-kept truck with the right equipment and clean history should still attract interest, but you may need to price competitively. Trucks with broad appeal and strong feature content tend to hold buyer attention better than stripped-down examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The F-150 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a reversing camera. The truck is also available with blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 360-degree camera system is standard on the Limited and optional on the rest of the lineup, which is a useful advantage if you want easier maneuvering in tight spaces.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 gets modest updates while staying familiar and proven.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $23,562, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $25,748 average.
• It is a well-rounded truck that balances capability with everyday usability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,519, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $25,748 average.
• It adds a more modern, accommodating cabin with strong comfort and tech.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, familiarity, and broad capability, the 2019 is the primary path to consider. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2018 is the better value play, while the 2020 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and added modern appeal.
