How much does the 2019 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 10.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,868 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Ford Explorer earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its value for money, powerful engine options, and advanced features. It also fits well if you want a roomy, family-oriented midsize SUV with useful everyday versatility and a practical cabin. With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as reliable and appreciate that it feels dependable over time, especially when paired with its strong value and useful features. That said, the broader model-year context suggests reliability was not its strongest trait overall, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and condition. For long-term ownership, the main risk is ending up with a well-priced example that has been poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

At 71.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report to confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of wear in the cabin, electronics, and any areas that affect everyday usability. Focus on overall condition and maintenance evidence, since a clean-looking listing can still hide costly issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,868 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,531, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $16,531 sits slightly below last year's $18,539.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter more because buyers will have plenty of comparable listings to choose from. A well-kept example should still hold attention better than one with visible wear or a spotty history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,481, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,531 average.
• It adds an all-new chassis with hybrid and high-performance powertrains.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better value if you want a roomy, well-liked Explorer at a lower price. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer redesign, the 2020 is the stronger upgrade path, but price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2019.
