2019 Ford Escape
S FWD
45,332 mi
$13,810
Overview

The Escape has been part of the Ford lineup since 2001, when it was the company's plucky small SUV. Ford refreshed the Escape for 2017, offering a more muscular grille and updated headlight design. That redesign carries over for 2019.
The Escape has sleek styling, yet it provides plenty of cargo space and interior headroom. The Escape has 34 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. With the 60/40 split-fold rear bench down, the Escape has a cargo capacity of 70 cubic feet. Inside, the Escape has a modern, high-tech dash layout.
Trims for the Escape include S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. Standard features on the base S trim include a driver’s blind-spot mirror with integrated wide angle, four 12-volt power points, a USB charging port, and the SYNC infotainment system. On the base S trim, SYNC includes a 4.2-inch color LCD screen and Bluetooth.
Moving up to the SE trim gets you the larger SYNC3 infotainment system with an 8-inch color touchscreen. It features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it can connect to your Amazon Alexa account via the Ford+Alexa system. The SE trim also provides SiriusXM satellite radio, remote keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, heated front seats, and dual smart-charging USB ports.
Moving up to the SEL adds leather seating and a hands-free power liftgate. It’s also available with the SEL Sport Appearance Package, which includes 19-inch dark-accent aluminum wheels, LED fog lights, and dark bezels for the head- and taillights. It also features a gloss black grille with chrome inserts, black roof rails and window trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
The range-topping Titanium trim provides 10-way power-adjustable front seats, voice-activated navigation, and a 10-speaker Sony premium audio system. Buyers can also get a panoramic sunroof as a standalone option on the Titanium, or as part of broader options packages.
The engine in the S trim is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, making 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The SE and SEL come equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine, putting out 179 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. The range-topping Titanium trim features a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder, putting out 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque.
Regardless of engine, power is sent through a 6-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels or available four-wheel drive (4WD). When properly equipped, the Escape is capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds.
The most efficient configuration of the Escape is the 1.5-liter turbo with front-wheel drive (FWD), returning EPA-estimated fuel economy of 23 mpg city, 30 highway, 26 combined. With 4WD, fuel economy falls to 22, 28, and 24.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine with FWD returns 22, 29, and 25. With 4WD, fuel economy drops to 20, 27, and 23. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine returns 21, 29, and 24.
The Escape comes with standard safety features such as a reversing camera, traction control, and a tire-pressure-monitoring system. It’s also available with a host of driver-assistance features, such as forward-collision warning and avoidance, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Buyers can also get the Escape with the available active park assist.
With plenty of standard and optional features, potent engines, and the latest driver-assistance features, the 2019 Ford Escape is a modern crossover designed for the modern commuter.

Found a very well-appointed Titanium that was under 8k miles at a good rated price. Brought it home and wife was impressed. Solid and quiet ride. Entertain system and interior are top-notch. I have ordered a few interior accessories like the privacy shade and a Weathertech cargo liner, other than that not much to do as it looks sharp inside and out.

The best feature, as I had been driving a Yukon XL before, is the gas mileage. Love that and all the other features. The only thing I would like to have had was a CD player. But it has Bluetooth, so I will record my music in my phone and play there! It looks small from the outside, but felt plenty roomy inside.

OUTSTANDING value, very safe car in the snow and ice,; drives very smooth, gas mileage (hybrid) was better than even hoped…this car is not missing anything! Would compare it to a loaded Mazda CX-5 - but better

How much does the 2019 Ford Escape cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,076 |
| Year-Round Low | $12,912 |
| Year-Round High | $14,517 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,516 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.92% |
Prices have softened 9.92% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 4,402 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and conditions.
Is the 2019 Ford Escape a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 4.71/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. Reviewers repeatedly praise its spacious interior, comfort, and advanced tech features, and many also highlight its fuel economy and engine performance as part of its value proposition. The market also shows 31.0% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Ford Escape reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary points to a vehicle that owners find dependable enough to recommend for its comfort, value, and everyday usability. Mentions of older-model issues and missing features in some trims suggest you should still verify maintenance history and condition carefully before buying. For used shoppers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you choose a well-kept example.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Escape?
At 72% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of wear that could point to past incidents or deferred maintenance. It also helps to compare trim equipment carefully, since some lower trims may be missing features you expect.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Escape?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.
- Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,402 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.92% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 72.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,912, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Escape's resale value?
The current average of $13,076 sits slightly below last year's $14,516.
That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, a lower entry price can help you buy in at a more favorable point in the cycle. If demand stays steady, a well-kept example should remain easier to move than one with accident history or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Escape or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 72% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.92% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $15,352, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $13,076 average.
- It adds more tech, safety features, and a more polished cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because pricing has eased and inventory is broad. If you can stretch your budget and want a newer-feeling cabin with more features, the 2020 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2019 makes the most sense; for shoppers prioritizing newer equipment, the 2020 is worth the extra spend.
