CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Edge
overall

Summary
With 192 currently listed for sale near Raleigh, NC and an average price of $13,581, 29.2% of 2019 Ford Edges for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Edge 4.77 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
84.9% of 2019 Edge models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Edge stands out as a midsize, two-row SUV that helped define the family-crossover formula. Ford also offers it with an ST trim, adding performance to the Edge’s practical foundation. That combination gives the 2019 Edge a broader appeal than a typical family hauler, since it aims to balance everyday usefulness with a more energetic driving character.
Even so, the Edge feels dated in some respects. Its strongest advantages are the backseat legroom and cargo space buyers need, which make it especially appealing for families and long trips. Owner feedback also points to comfort, features, and strong power as positives, reinforcing the Edge’s role as a roomy and capable choice. At the same time, some reviewers mention sluggish acceleration and missing features such as automatic side mirrors, so the 2019 Edge is best viewed as a practical SUV with a few clear compromises.

Excellent driver, exceptional roominess front AND rear seat. Tons more space behind the second row than my Lincoln MKC (my trade in). I’m blown away that this Ford Edge is more quiet and rides better than the smaller MKC. Disappointments are no power lift gate, no garage door opener feature. Very comfortable leather seats, and the SEL comes standard with many safety features. So far very satisfied.

| Year-Round Low | $15,307 |
| Year-Round High | $16,826 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,817 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.78% |
Prices have softened 8.78% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,747 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?
Yes — you’re looking at a 4.77/5 user-rated SUV with an expert score of 7.33/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise the Edge for its performance, comfort, and features, and they also call out the spacious interior and strong power as major positives. That lines up well with the Edge’s use case as a midsize, two-row SUV aimed at families and long trips, especially if you want roominess and everyday practicality with a more energetic driving character available in the lineup. Even so, some owners mention sluggish acceleration and missing features, so it’s best viewed as a well-rounded family SUV rather than a class leader in every area.
The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 33.2% of listings priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with recurring praise for its strong power, comfort, and spacious interior. The expert drive notes also support that impression, describing the main turbocharged engine as one that gets the job done and won’t let you down. On the cost side, the Edge’s available equipment and practical packaging help it feel like a sensible long-term family SUV, especially if you value room and features over flash.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some examples may show the effects of age in the cabin and in feature content, so condition matters a lot.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status is only a starting point. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the interior and electronics, since the Edge is described as feeling dated in places and some shoppers may be sensitive to missing convenience features. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and whether the equipment level matches what you expect from the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, and rain-sensing wipers, while the SEL adds black roof rails, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The cabin is described as dated, and the base trim’s feature set is relatively sparse, so you’ll want to compare equipment carefully.
- Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic and available AWD. The ST uses a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, also with an 8-speed automatic and AWD only. The non-ST engine is described as getting the job done and not letting you down.
- Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Above the SE, Co-Pilot360 Assist+ adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering.
- Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, and it adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration.
- Fuel efficiency: The most efficient version returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The ST returns 19/26/21.
Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?
The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Edge formula with standard safety tech and basic convenience features. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price, but the cabin tech is the weakest part of the lineup.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim. It adds meaningful comfort and convenience upgrades, and it can be equipped with packages that bring in leather upholstery, heated front seats, remote start, a hands-free power liftgate, and a wireless charging pad. It’s the trim most buyers should start with.
- Titanium: This trim adds a more upscale feel with 19-inch wheels, standard leather upholstery, wireless charging, remote start, and a Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker premium sound system. Choose it if you want a more premium daily driver.
- ST: This is the performance-focused choice, with the stronger V6, AWD, sportier exterior details, upgraded exhaust, and available comfort features like heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats. It’s the pick if you want the most power and the most character.
Co-Pilot360 is standard, and Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available above the SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.
- Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,747 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.78% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 75.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,307, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?
The current average of $15,340 sits slightly below last year's $16,817.
That decline suggests the Edge has become more affordable for buyers, which can make it easier to move later if you price it competitively. For a future seller, the current trend points to a market that rewards clean condition, strong equipment, and sensible pricing more than simple age. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of preserving value by keeping mileage and wear in check.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?
The 2019 Ford Edge earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Edge comes standard with Co-Pilot360, which includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It also includes a reversing camera, traction control, and a full complement of front- and side-impact airbags. If you want more advanced assistance, Co-Pilot360 Assist+ adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, and lane-centering.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.78% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Ford offers the ST trim, giving the lineup a performance option alongside the practical two-row layout.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $16,874, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,340 average.
- It adds a more well-equipped feel with standard tech and safety features.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the cleaner alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2019 and shop for a well-kept example with the right equipment.
