CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Dodge Challenger

Summary
With 203 currently listed for sale and an average price of $23,593, 17.2% of 2019 Dodge Challenger listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Dodge Challenger 4.91 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Dodge Challenger stands out as a modern muscle car that keeps a classic coupe formula alive while still offering everyday usability. It is a five-passenger coupe with a user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system that includes a touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, which helps make it feel more practical than its old-school styling might suggest. Buyers also get a wide range of powertrain choices, manual and automatic transmissions, and a broad spread of trims and special editions, so the Challenger can be tailored from relatively accessible to seriously high-performance.
What makes the 2019 model especially distinctive is how much character Dodge packed into the third-generation Challenger without changing its basic shape. The car was designed on a platform suitable for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and some trims offered Widebody variations in 2019 that added broader fenders. Other available performance hardware included adaptive suspension, launch control, and Brembo performance brakes and calipers, while special editions brought spoilers, hood scoops, unique fascia and grille designs, special upholstery, and distinctive badging. That combination gives the Challenger a strong visual presence and a wide performance range, which is a big part of its appeal.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Challenger’s size and muscle-car focus mean it is not the most subtle choice, and owner feedback points to concerns about visibility and snowy-weather handling. It can also be expensive to own, especially when insurance and fuel costs are taken into account. Even so, for shoppers who want a coupe with unmistakable style, plenty of personality, and a broad mix of performance options, the 2019 Dodge Challenger has a lot to offer.

I love it. It’s everything I’ve been looking for. If you’re looking for entry into muscle cars but you’re a little intimidated by the V8 this is definitely a good option, or if you want a good daily this is the way to go!

Just about all the features you might want in a performance big engine sports car. This five year old vehicle is a good value considering the mileage, condition and depreciation curve. What’s missing? Sunroof maybe but not a deal breaker for me. Other models to consider would be a Corvette or Camaro.

Is the 2019 Dodge Challenger a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Dodge Challenger earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its power, stylish design, and comfortable ride, and many appreciate the old-school muscle-car feel paired with modern features. The five-passenger coupe layout and user-friendly infotainment setup make it easier to live with than its styling might imply. With 26.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Dodge Challenger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback also highlights a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially those who value the car’s long-term appeal and character. The strongest praise centers on how well it delivers the muscle-car experience without feeling overly complicated to live with. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that upkeep can be costly, so condition and maintenance history matter.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Dodge Challenger?
At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car has been maintained consistently. Because this model can be expensive to own, you should also pay close attention to wear items and overall mechanical condition.

What is the 2019 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $24,768 sits slightly below last year's $25,923.
That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more gradual unless the market tightens. If you plan to sell later, a well-kept example with strong documentation should be easier to position competitively. Demand should remain supported by the model’s enthusiast appeal and broad popularity.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.46% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $28,578, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $24,768 average.
- It adds new colors and a 50th Anniversary package for some trims.
The 2019 is the better value if you want a strong mix of price, inventory, and enthusiast appeal. If you can spend more and want the newer-year updates, the 2020 is the cleaner upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2019 remains the smarter starting point.
