In 2017, Chrysler abandoned its longstanding Town & Country nameplate and replaced it with the all-new Pacifica minivan. For 2019, Chrysler keeps the Pacifica the same. Every Pacifica houses a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 287 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. One of the Pacifica’s many bright spots is its versatile interior, which seats up to 8 people. A second-row bench seat comes standard, but shoppers can replace it with a set of captain’s chairs. There are cargo areas in both the second and third rows that also provide space for the folded seats, thanks to Chrysler’s Stow ‘n' Go feature. Also included are 13 cupholders and myriad pockets and cubbies. The Pacifica comes in six trims: L, LX, Touring Plus, Touring L, Touring L Plus, and Limited. The L trim incorporates keyless access and start, steel wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB input, and 6-speaker audio system. Scale the trim ladder and features include alloy wheels; leather upholstery; rear air conditioning; power-sliding, hands-free rear doors and liftgate; navigation; a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen display; memory seats; 4G LTE hotspot capability; HID headlights; a 7-inch color instrument panel display; and a premium audio system. Some of the wilder indulgences include a tri-pane panoramic sunroof, a built-in vacuum cleaner, and an entertainment system with dual 10.2-inch screens and a BluRay player. The sinister-looking S Appearance Package also makes a return for 2019. It features 18-inch wheels, a blacked-out grille, black exterior fitments, gloss-black accents across the interior, a black interior with light-gray accents and “S” badging. Chrysler has made sure the Pacifica is no underachiever when it comes to safety. A reversing camera, blind-spot monitoring, reversing sensors, and rear cross-traffic detection with automatic braking come standard. Adaptive cruise control with traffic crawl, forward-collision braking, a 360-degree camera system, lane-departure warning, lane keeping assist and parking assist are among the safety options. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the minivan its Top Safety Pick award in 2018. With buyers flocking to SUVs and crossovers like there’s no tomorrow, the minivan market has languished. But those buyers still left in the segment are fiercely loyal, and it’s attractive offerings like the Pacifica that will keep them interested for years to come.
