It also appeals if you value a truck that stays easy to live with while still offering special towing and off-road ability.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

Owners describe it as dependable and satisfying over time, with praise centered on performance, comfort, and the way the truck delivers the power they expect. Chevrolet’s reduced free maintenance and trial periods can make ownership feel less generous than before, so used buyers should pay close attention to service history and overall condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Chevrolet Colorado?

At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks for prior body damage, uneven wear, and signs of hard use. Because this truck is often bought for work, towing, or off-road duty, condition matters as much as mileage. Focus on how the truck was maintained, whether the cabin and bed show heavy wear, and whether any modifications were done cleanly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Colorado lineup ranges from a bare-bones extended cab with rear-wheel drive and a 4-cylinder engine to a loaded ZR2 crew cab with 4-wheel drive and the rugged Bison Package. The cabin is described as simple and practical, with basic materials and an organized control layout, while the rugged versions add more purpose-built styling and hardware.
• Powertrain: You can find a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, a 308-horsepower 3.6-liter V6, and an available 181-horsepower 2.8-liter turbo-diesel 4-cylinder. The diesel is tied to the highest tow rating, while the V6 is the more common choice and still offers strong towing ability.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a reversing camera and Teen Driver monitoring, and crew cab versions also get a rear-seat reminder. Only the LT can be optioned with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, so safety equipment varies by trim.
• Infotainment: The Colorado uses Chevrolet Infotainment 3 with a 7- or 8-inch display, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and voice recognition. It also supports OnStar services, with available navigation, a Bose premium sound system, and a wireless phone-charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert testing notes an observed 18.6 mpg on the evaluation loop, close to the EPA’s 19 mpg rating.

Which 2019 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 3 trim levels: Base, LT, and Z71.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the simplest Colorado and do not need extra comfort or off-road hardware. It suits you best if your priority is keeping the truck basic and functional.
• LT: This is the best-value trim if you want the most useful mix of everyday equipment and available safety tech. It is also the trim that can be optioned with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, which makes it the smartest choice for many shoppers.
• Z71: This is the pick if you want the more rugged setup, including off-road suspension tuning, hill descent control, and the available Duratrac tires. It is the right fit if you want a Colorado that feels more capable away from pavement.

Only the LT can be optioned with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, so that trim has the clearest safety advantage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Chevrolet Colorado?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,369 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,647, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $21,647 sits slightly below last year's $23,668.

That decline suggests the Colorado has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier for a future seller to attract interest if the truck is well kept. The current pricing also shows that the market still values this model year, especially when the truck has a clean history and desirable equipment. If you maintain yours carefully and keep records, you should be in a better position to hold value than a neglected example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado safe?

The Colorado earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with three-star rollover resistance.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes a reversing camera and Teen Driver monitoring, and crew cab versions also get a rear-seat reminder. Only the LT can be optioned with forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, so the safety story depends heavily on trim. The expert evaluation also flags weak headlights, hard-to-access child seat LATCH anchors, and a Marginal result for front passenger safety in a small overlap frontal-impact test.

Should I buy a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its available diesel engine, off-road-tuned ZR2 trim, and simple, sensibly designed approach.

The bottom line: If you want a Colorado that still makes sense as a straightforward midsize truck, the 2019 is worth a close look, especially if you value the diesel, the ZR2, or a simple cabin layout. If you are price-sensitive, a clean, well-maintained example with the right equipment can be a smart buy; if you want newer-feeling tech or a more modern interior, you may want to compare other years or rivals before deciding.
