What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Volvo XC90?

At 70.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden bodywork, suspension, or electronics issues. What is the 2018 Volvo XC90's resale value?

The current average of $16,909 sits slightly below last year's $19,066.

That softer pricing suggests the XC90 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and maintain it well, you’ll be better positioned when it’s time to sell. Demand should also benefit from the model’s strong owner satisfaction and premium-family-SUV appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Volvo XC90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong pick if you want a well-liked XC90 at a softer price than last year, especially if you can verify condition and history carefully. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
