Is the 2018 Volvo S60 a good car?

Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2018 Volvo S60 stands out as a compact luxury sedan that blends Scandinavian style with a strong emphasis on safety and comfort. It is aimed at buyers who want something different from the usual German alternatives, and its appeal centers on understated design, strong safety credentials, comfortable seating, and a driver-focused character rather than maximum rear-seat space. 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Volvo S60 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 Volvo S60’s reliability case is supported by its emphasis on safety and its established second-generation formula, with standard City Safety across the lineup and best-in-class crash ratings from both the IIHS and NHTSA. Its cabin also leans on high-quality materials and logical controls, which can help the car feel well put together over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the car’s core concept and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Volvo S60?

At 66.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to bodywork consistency, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear that could point to past repairs. Because this model’s appeal depends heavily on comfort, safety, and refinement, focus on overall condition rather than just mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Volvo S60?

This is a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right car appears, but you should still compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 271 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.68% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,340, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $14,137 sits slightly below last year's $14,988.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit softer, which can work against you if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, the current pricing may help you buy at a more favorable entry point if you intend to keep the car for a while. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who value safety, comfort, and distinctive styling.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $17,846, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,137 average.
• It shifts toward broader mainstream appeal with more direct small-luxury-sedan competition.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2018 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid satisfaction and a meaningful number of deal listings. If you are willing to pay more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2019 is the secondary path to consider.
