Is the 2018 Volvo S60 a good car?

Yes — the 4.8/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the 2018 S60’s appeal centers on Scandinavian style, comfort, and safety. It’s aimed at you if you want a compact luxury sedan that feels distinctive rather than conventional, with a cabin that emphasizes quality materials and logical controls. It also makes sense if you value a driver-focused luxury car more than rear-seat space, since the back seat is less generous than the front. 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Volvo S60 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2018 S60’s reliability case is supported by its strong safety focus, standard City Safety equipment, and best-in-class crash ratings from both the IIHS and NHTSA. Its cabin also earned praise for high-quality materials and straightforward controls, which usually helps ownership feel less stressful over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is finding a car whose condition and maintenance history don’t match its premium reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Volvo S60?

At 67% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive or the car has incomplete service records. Focus your condition check on the cabin, electronics, and overall wear, since those areas matter most in a luxury sedan like this.

What is the 2018 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $14,238 sits slightly below last year's $14,690.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,037, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,238 average.
• It adds a more mainstream, directly competitive small-luxury-sedan approach.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the better value and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer-feeling market position and a broader competitive appeal, the 2019 is the alternative to compare.
