Is the 2018 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable, dependable, and a vehicle they can count on, with praise centered on its trouble-free ownership experience and long-term usefulness. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used SUV that should be easier to live with over time.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about the condition of the specific example you choose.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Highlander?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any listing that looks especially appealing on price. Focus on overall condition, prior repairs, and signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership costs.

What is the 2018 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $21,373 sits slightly below last year's $22,799.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and avoid examples with accident history, you should be in a better position to preserve value. Demand should remain supported by the model’s practical reputation and broad family appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $20,021, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $21,373 average.
• It brings a refreshed design and standard safety equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability, the 2018 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Highlander’s core strengths.
