Is the 2018 Toyota Camry a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Toyota Camry earns a 4.58/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its attractive design, reliable performance, great gas mileage, comfortable ride, and safety features. That lines up with the Camry’s use case as a sensible daily driver that still feels more expressive and sporty than a typical family sedan.

Is the 2018 Toyota Camry reliable?

That combination suggests you can count on it for commuting, errands, and family duty without much drama.

The expert review also notes strong acceleration, positive steering feedback, and little body roll, which supports the idea that it feels composed and dependable on the road. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a poorly maintained example with cosmetic or equipment compromises rather than a fundamentally weak platform.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Camry?

At 49.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or has higher mileage. Pay close attention to body condition, interior wear, and whether the equipment level matches the trim you want, since lower trims leave out some desirable features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The L trim is the most basic, while the LE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a power driver’s seat, an anti-theft system, and a 60/40 split-fold rear seat. The SE adds a unique front-end design, 18-inch black-finished wheels, a rear spoiler, automatic climate control, and SofTex sport front seats, while the XSE adds dual-zone climate control, three USB ports, a head-up display, a panoramic moonroof, and a large 7-inch color information display. The XLE adds full LED headlights, a bright metallic front grille, 18-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and upgraded interior trim.
• Powertrain: The base 2.5-liter 4-cylinder makes 203 horsepower, while the XSE version increases output to 206 horsepower. The XSE and XLE are also available with a 301-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, and all engines use an 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. The 4-cylinder returns 29 mpg city, 41 highway, 34 combined, while the V6 returns 22 city, 32 highway, 26 combined.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and intelligent clearance sonar is available, along with a 360-degree camera on equipped models.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Entune 3.0, Bluetooth, Siri EyesFree, and Google voice controls for Android users. It does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The XLE V6 and XSE get a larger 8-inch touchscreen, plus a 9-speaker JBL premium audio system and RemoteConnect with Wi-Fi connectivity.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder returns 29 mpg city, 41 highway, 34 combined, and the V6 returns 22 city, 32 highway, 26 combined.

Which 2018 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2018 Toyota Camry is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, SE, XSE, and XLE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the simplest version, and it gives you the core Camry experience with remote keyless entry, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and a USB port. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a power driver’s seat, an anti-theft system, and a 60/40 split-fold rear seat without pushing you into the pricier sport or luxury-oriented trims.
• SE: This trim is the better pick if you want the Camry’s sportier look and feel, thanks to the unique front-end design, 18-inch black-finished wheels, a rear spoiler, automatic climate control, and SofTex sport front seats.
• XSE: This is the most feature-rich sporty trim, adding dual-zone climate control, three USB ports, a head-up display, a panoramic moonroof, and a larger 7-inch color information display. It also gets the larger 8-inch touchscreen, JBL audio, and RemoteConnect with Wi-Fi connectivity when paired with the V6.
• XLE: This is the comfort-leaning choice, with full LED headlights, a bright metallic front grille, 18-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and upgraded interior trim. It also gets the larger 8-inch touchscreen and JBL audio when equipped with the V6.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim for the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Camry?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,869 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,879, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $17,809 sits slightly above last year's $17,793.

That small increase suggests the Camry’s used-market value has been stable rather than volatile. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern is helpful because it points to steady demand instead of a sharp drop in buyer interest.

The Camry’s broad appeal as a practical daily driver also helps support pricing over time. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the car well, you should be in a better position to preserve value when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.58/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2018 Toyota Camry earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with 10 airbags, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and Toyota Safety Sense P. That suite includes forward-collision avoidance, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control as standard features.

You can also get a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert and intelligent clearance sonar for low-speed parking help. Those available features add useful everyday protection, especially if you spend a lot of time in traffic or tight parking spaces.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.58/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends bold styling with dependable daily transportation and strong safety features.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,953, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $17,809 average.
• It is the last model year of the previous generation and remains a competent, well-rounded sedan.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,890, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $17,809 average.
• It adds daring styling, strong safety credentials, and a free scheduled maintenance plan.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of style, safety, and everyday usability, the 2018 is the primary pick. If your budget matters most, the 2017 is the smarter value play, while the 2019 makes sense if you want the newer-generation look and are willing to pay more.
