CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Summary
With 234 currently listed for sale and an average price of $19,930, 26.1% of 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid 4.86 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid stands out as part of the Camry’s third generation, when the hybrid model moved upmarket and adopted a noticeably different look. It kept the Camry’s core appeal of affordability, practicality, and ease of ownership, but added a more distinctive fastback rear end, a lower roofline, and a longer, wider body. The interior also took on a more adventurous design, with a curvy dashboard and a high-tech center console that gave it a more modern feel than earlier versions.
It also brought stronger performance and a broader equipment list. Power rose to 208 horsepower from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor, with front-wheel drive and a CVT. Fuel economy was rated at 46-52 mpg on the EPA combined cycle, depending on spec. The hybrid lineup expanded to three trims, and the entry-level version included LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and radar cruise control. A 2020 update later added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration for all trims, along with mild cosmetic changes, but that was not part of the 2018 model year itself.
For buyers, the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid is appealing because it combines strong efficiency, a roomy and user-friendly cabin, and a reputation for being well-built and unlikely to let you down. Owners also praise its fuel efficiency, reliability, spacious interior, smooth ride, and useful tech and safety features. The main tradeoff is that it is still not especially exciting to drive or look at, and some early-model reliability concerns remain part of the Camry Hybrid story overall.

I love this car so much! I do miss the smaller features of my 2014 Ford Fusion like the navigation and sunroof. However, the fuel economy with the Toyota Camry hybrid is better than the fusion and it has many of the features I am already used to. It offers a smooth ride, great connectivity with your phone via Bluetooth, and the adaptive cruise control is great for thruway driving. Overall, I feel this is a great value and I'm happy with my purchase so far!

Purchased this car as my daily commuter. This car gives me between 46-50 mpg. The interior is spacious. The seats are comfortable. The standard safety features (lane assist, adaptive cruise control, etc.) make this car a pleasure to drive. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the of a strange smell that the AC system produces. According to several forums it is a common problem with this model. There are several resources online that show you how to get rid of the smell which is helpful, but I think it is something that Toyota should fix since its clearly a design flaw. Overall I am very happy with the car. It gets wonderful MPG, its spacious and its standard safety features enhance the daily driving experience.

Great car, 2nd Camry we have had. Great pickup speed - better than just gas powered, Incredible mileage, and the “ regular size “ tires versus “ low profile “ tires make the ride smoother too ! I would buy another Camry Hybrid.

Is the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid a good car?
Yes — 4.86/5 is a strong user rating, and owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, reliability, and spacious interior. The review summary also points to a smooth ride, good power, and useful tech and safety features, which fits a used-car shopper looking for a practical hybrid sedan with easy ownership. If you want a roomy, efficient daily driver with a comfort-first personality, this model year lines up well with that use case. 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to find value.
Is the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary reinforces that impression by highlighting reliability, with owners describing the car as dependable and well-suited to long-term ownership. That said, some buyers have reported an unpleasant smell from the air conditioning system, so you should pay attention to how the cabin systems behave during a test drive. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core hybrid setup and more about finding a well-maintained example with no unresolved comfort or maintenance issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid?
At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the air conditioning system smells and performs. A careful condition check matters here because the best used examples will be the ones that combine strong ownership history with clean mechanical and cosmetic presentation.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.
- Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 234 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 57.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,787, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $19,918 sits slightly above last year's $19,777.
That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern usually points to predictable depreciation rather than sudden value loss. It also means a well-kept example can remain appealing to shoppers who want efficiency, comfort, and a strong ownership reputation without paying new-car money.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 57.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: You should focus on the 2018 if you want a well-liked hybrid sedan with stable pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and enough inventory to shop carefully. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains a sensible primary target when you want a balanced mix of value, efficiency, and buyer confidence.
