Is the 2018 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the WRX for its fun driving experience, strong performance, excellent handling, and accessible power. The overview also makes clear that this model year is aimed at you if you want a practical sports sedan with standard all-wheel drive and everyday usability. Is the 2018 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers enjoy living with over time, especially because it feels dependable in the ways that matter to enthusiasts: strong performance, confident handling, and all-weather traction. That said, used-car ownership risk still depends heavily on how the previous owner maintained the car, so a careful inspection and service-history review are important before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru WRX?

At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records or other red flags. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on the drivetrain, suspension, and any signs of hard use. Focus on overall condition and maintenance consistency, because a performance-oriented car like this can vary a lot from one listing to the next.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 619 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,023, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $17,544 sits slightly below last year's $17,854.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that value retention will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. A well-kept WRX should still attract interest from shoppers who want performance and all-wheel drive in a compact sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want a well-liked WRX with strong owner approval and a softer current price than last year. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains a strong choice when you want the balance of performance, usability, and current market value.
