That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at a strong price, you may be better positioned to preserve value later. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $11,820, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $12,350 average.
• The 2017 stands out most for its sporty styling.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the better value play, but you should expect a more style-first proposition.
